Sufix line is just superb; I’ve been using Duraflex for the last year and it’s amazing stuff - extremely low memory, very fine diameter, near invisible in the water and super strong. I got into a snag and had to “straight” pull for a “break” - I still can’t believe how much pressure I exerted before it pulled free and all intact. I used Sufix line for my sea fishing years ago and now I’m converted to it for my carping - it’s excellent !

I've got a question for you Rob I tend to fish Zig's slot and l would like to know what affect undertow has on my zig sometimes I will fish upwind of my bait to combat the tow but it's all guess work I would love to know what you find and I'm sure others anglers will . Very nice and educational video. I have a suggestion that you can try under water. I use the stick bait as well and what I do is, coat the pellets with the oil in a bowl with a lid, then while it's still wet, add some floattract

This was an eye opener on whats going on he even mentioned sounds which I have been thinking about more and more its the match guys feeding pellets the fish hear them going in, I was fishing sticks but also pining in a few pellets over one rod and it out fished the other rod so definitely worth the effort

I'm a diving instructor, now carp angler and it's a great question. For example, is there a particular temp or pressure that means you're wasting your time on the deck. I'm not sure this video or even my post answers it. Clearly when you dive in the med in summer, there's a big drop at around 11 or 13 metres that you feel a xhange in temp and defo affects what fish you see.. In carp lakes: one website said "the further you go into summer, the more the thermocline matters,” Dreves said. “It varies from year to year how long it takes for it to set up.” Anglers want to target the area just above the thermocline for the best summer fishing. “You have that happy medium of the coolest water with good dissolved oxygen,” Dreves said. “You might find baitfish at that level as well. That zone will be the active part of the food chain." The fertility of the lake determines the location of the thermocline. Water clarity is a good indicator of fertility; murky lakes contain more nutrients in the water than lakes where you can see the bottom in 12 feet of water. On a highly fertile lake such as Taylorsville, the thermocline starts at about 8 feet deep in mid-summer and ends at roughly 12 feet. Bass anglers fishing a heavy jig 18 feet deep on a channel drop are wasting their time, the same as anglers dunking cut bait for channel cats at that depth. There is no dissolved oxygen that deep. Anglers need to pound that water from 6 to 10 feet deep or so in the summer heat on Taylorsville for bass, crappie, catfish and even bluegill. “On a clear, low fertility lake like Laurel River Lake or Lake Cumberland, the thermocline may start at 30 feet deep,” Dreves said. “On these lakes, there can be good dissolved oxygen below the thermocline. They have a two story fishery where cool water fish such as walleye or striped bass locate below the thermocline in summer.” On mid-depth, moderately fertile lakes such as Nolin River Lake, Barren River Lake, Green River Lake or Rough River Lake, the thermocline usually starts around 11 to 12 feet deep in summer with little dissolved oxygen below 16 feet. “Find banks, channel drops or humps at that depth and fish them,” Dreves said. “I always remind myself to fish the right depth in summer.” So for me that says when air and temp is high, fish in upper layers say on zigs, Which would make sense as hot uk summers drive fish to the surface however they clearly feed on the bottom in depths exceeding that in the same time. So where do you go? I'm an angler who loves a 30wrap baited spot but thinking again, I wonder if I might hook more fish on zigs

I always tend to soak my pellets and ground bait in oil instead of injecting straight into my bags. Does this effect the release? Also I put water soluble liquid into the mix, to try and form multiple levels of attraction. I would like to see a mix of different liquids, either together or on their own when mixed with the pellet. Great video by the way!

Weed's different so it depends on the weed. Also it's a bit tricky to film rigs in weed as you can't see them. We have got a weed special coming up though.

Very informative NBTV. The idea that carp may avoid the cherry on the cake makes sense to me so i may try to take advantage of that but, in competition with others or just plain hungry.. they do trip up from time to time. Here is a quick question Rob, PVA bags in sea water which do you think would be best to hold long enough to get to the sea bed and still hold some smelly oil or additives I know we have cart using a finger bandage is fine but I would also like to see how the PVA bags do maybe to distract the evil little fish and crabs, but also to attract the big fish that are patrolling the beach, also using a three hook flapper rig I could use 2 PVA bags and a cart sausage on the bottom, what do you think, I don't know how much sea diving you do but this could be a brilliant extra channel for the baits company to explore. I'm not entirely convinced that the phrase 'carp love oil' is true. I definitely wouldn't argue against them being able to get calorific benefit from oil content within food items and enjoying that but I'm yet to see any evidence that they can detect oil in any substantial fashion. I'd buy that the oil can potentially act as a carrier for tiny food particles if it's low enough in viscosity to separate from the food items but as an actual attractant on its own merits I don't think it does anything.

Good vid guys👍if we use bright feed and baits why do we go to such lengths as comoflaging weights,lead core,hooklenths,invisible line Etc should they not be bright to attract as well? In the case of line if its visible surely then fish would not be spooked and spook the others,yes you will get liners but not spookers,do we really believe that hiding it all is the be all and end all? Are fish afraid of what they can't see or can see?not afraid of a big diver,quite the opposite. Where silt is concerned and it's everywhere mega catches are taken is this because all the business end is buried? By nature fish rutt on the bottom it's where most of their food lives. Why not do a vid to put this to bed once and for all,I say fish are not afraid of what they see,it's what they can't see!👍

Robert Wren, I've been doing what you're talking about for years. People think i'm crazy but i catch more than they do. I believe this is true. Fish are very inquisitive and if they see it, they come and have a look. As you say, they're not afraid of it. I use yellow feeders, black leaders, black hook-lengths and light baits. 👍

All nature is the same mate even us humans,if you walk down a dark alley way and you walk into a spider's web it startles you but if you saw it you'd go around it or push it out of the way with no fear whatsoever. Tackle manufacturers make the same gear as the others to be competitive with their rivals when it comes to colour! If your feeding sweet corn in a feeder then it has to be yellow! Red maggots,red feeder! The same should apply to leads and lines. I fear though the company's won't do it and that's because of millions in stock and because we've been educated in blending in with background of which you haven't got a clue unless your a diver.🎣
