Been doing something with my double hives . Only difference I've been putting what's left in single deep giving them queen cells .. got lucky with warm weather but now it's turning chilly next ten days highs in the 50s and rain . Normally end up with 4 frames of brood left over from both sides . I'll restart the double hives later I figured .. I'd love to get some of those buckfast imports boarders closed can't import queens even though only 2 hours from Ferguson in Ontario

@@philbeeman weaver in Texas use to breed buckfast but mixed with Africanized .. really hot stock don't have to worry about mites ..

Boy, you are behind even me in MN and I know I'm 3 weeks later than last year. Like you said, this will be an interesting year. Last year in the drought I thought all was lost and yet I got a very good crop somehow. Who knows maybe we'll be alright since the plants are about as far behind as the bees?? Thanks for the update. I've never heard of Carpathian bees. Are they a manmade selection like Buckfast?

Carpathian from Ukraine was some good 25 yrs. ago, but last 10.. yrs. carpathian breeder Gaidar from Mukachova lost something in his breeding. Now living on old good Sovetic reputation and spreding that " Buckfast are made for destroing pure bees" . Darker version of carnica, but selection level are far from good. Best carnica I have are from Germany and Austria. Slovenian swarmy.

Generaly: cheep queens, swarmy and some have agression.
