I just spent two minutes listening to you figure out what card to pick... and I LOVED IT!!! This is exactly why I go to your videos. Everyone else explains how a game works, but you are the only one that truly shows how complex the decision making of a game can be. I've seen this game and never really batted an eye, but after watching this I feel like I need to run out and get it for Christmas. Thanks for this and all the other great reviews, can't get enough!!!

I am always impressed on how you manage to "think out loud". It is super interesting to hear your whole brainstorming when you make game decisions. There aren't many people who can do it this well.

now if only i could do it without making goofs! :)

Love that style of drafting mechanism - Works great in First Class and can't wait to play it here :) (Removing the excess tiles in lower player counts).

You can't bounce back from an empty plot (8:34), you have to move on. Only if you have a bread you may stand still (or move anywhere on the board). EDIT: Not a mistake! Sorry!
@PauloRenato236 жыл бұрын
Actually you can bounce back, it's even stated in the rules: "If there are no more building tiles left, they must continue moving (also allowing the player to move back to their starting space)" Page 4 of the Rules, nothing says you can't move back on the main body of the rules and is stated explicitly that you can in the right side of the rules

Yeah, ok, I stand corrected. Sorry, my mistake.

Rahdo: And now I’ve finished my wheat field. Me: That’s pretty clearly a field of leafy greens, not wheat. He’ll probably realize it when he picks up the resource. Rahdo: [picks up leaf token] That means I get one grain. Me: ... Anyway...great review! I was originally going to pass on this one because of the visual (lack of) appeal, but I’m definitely reconsidering now.

Game is even better if you ignore the lines and just bounce around the circle (i.e. move to adjacent spots, bouncing from empty back if you like.) Feld himself agreed it makes no difference at all to the path making.
@rahdo6 жыл бұрын
yup totally true, however we prefer playing with the bounce,because it's simply more fun! there's a reason pachinko is so popular in japan :)
@robbyers91906 жыл бұрын
@@rahdo Unnecessary complexity is kind of annoying. It is surprising that a math wiz like Feld wouldn't have caught this.
@rahdo6 жыл бұрын
it's not really complex though, in our estimation. also, the bouncing helps underline the fact that you can return from when you came, which is something that would be more easily be forgotten if you played in a circular way, i'd bet.
@robbyers91906 жыл бұрын
@@rahdo Not at all. During the teaching of the game, you simply say, you move one space and then if empty you can move again to any adjacent space. Trying to plan three or four moves out according to the rules is quite simply over complicated for no reason. I can't imagine playing that way every again. But to each his own. Although, I can't imagine adding mechanisms to a game for the sole reason to obfuscate the strategies.
@rahdo6 жыл бұрын
@@robbyers9190 again, the reason is obvious to me... as i said above, it is simply more 'fun' to ricochet around the board. but as you say, to each their own :)

i looked it up and apparently there is no 'year 0' at all. we went from 1bc (or BCE) to 1 ad (or CE) :)

Initially it felt boring, re-themed Trajan. There is some twist and the art is more appealing. But hope he does something different.
@marcussousa13086 жыл бұрын
I fail to see how it is similar to Trajan.
@ski69135 жыл бұрын
I mean, different movement, different resource generation, different scoring. What exactly do you want to be “different” that isn’t different here?
