For that last pull you may have been able to reset the winch directly from the wall to your left and pull it the rest of the way from there as you would do if you you pulling it manually. Great idea, I look forward to your improved versions.

Slick idea! Never thought of this. Just seems like a lot of work, unless the carpet is really fuckin glued down.

the jackrabbit carpet puller will not shred a unitary backed carpet or double stick

Pro tip: start the video in landscape and it will record in landscape. Amazing it’s so hard for people to understand this

if that came loose would it fly at you standing on the machine? I like your idea better than paying for one of those expensive machines for a one off DIY job!

Dean Eng I've had it come loose from the carpet a few times and the cable doesn't spring back because there's no stretch. But, if you use rope you might create a snap back if it broke loose

Got any suggestions on how to remove carpet tiles?
@ShowMeMO-Digs6 жыл бұрын
Try hand held carpet pullers

Electric scraper at a 45 degree. Carpet tiles shouldn’t be difficult unless they were installed while the glue was still wet.

I absolutely love the idea if it didnt take 10 times longer then doing it the good old fashioned and faster way. Good if you get paid by the hour.

I love when it comes up easy, too! But don't like having to pull it up in 4" strips by hand. .. Lol
@kingleo795 жыл бұрын
No it would take longer by hand

@Ron Koestlinger I absolutely love pulling up glue down that's been down decades with a million footprints, it's the laid 2 years ago crap where the glue is still tacky that will really make you realize that somebody doesn't know what they're talking about.

@@georgekaufman5574 I've been doing it since 1985 and you are 100% correct

What do you do when it shreds it?
@ShowMeMO-Digs6 жыл бұрын
dale marizzaldi Try again... I find that unitary back carpets will shred... but action back carpets work well. May have to pull up narrower strips to keep it from shredding

i was thinking of making something like this. that is how i came across this video. I wish you didn't do a terrible acting job on how hard the carpet was to get started. It is obvious to a seasoned flooring mechanic that the carpet was a mediocre type rip at worst. I would have liked to see if this idea would work on a tough rip. getting a laugh watching the terrible acting was worth the time i lost watching this video though. thanks!
