All you can say is this: 30 years from now this car will still be on the road running like new for some crazy reason while pushing 400k and smiling as it resales for 15grand even after surviving ww3... although it may have the the roof modified for anti aircraft guns... Toyota wins kids.

i have a 14 almost 15 year old toyota sienna limited XLE, it still runs well, gets us where we need to be with minor issues. AC and lights still work good, but this week the transmission cable snapped or something so we had to get that fixed, pretty easy and its only a minor problem.

Our family have had quite a few minivans since the 90s Mercury, Ford, Mazda and finally the 2005 Sienna and it’s by far the best in terms of room, power, refinement, ride, handling, quality, reliability, longevity, dealer service, parts availability, insurance and more. It’s so good that we refuse to trade it in despite our Sienna is almost 16 years old with 298k flawless miles (483k kilometers). The van never been towed and nothing has been rebuilt even the AC and shock absorbers/struts.

Probably note, but because the Van is just so much bigger, it may have an advantage. I bet all systems are the same, it's just characteristics of the vehicle size that are the difference. I have the 2011 AWD, and it behaves the same way. Whatever happens, keep the friggin thing moving because it won't start from a stop, if one wheel spins. Seriously, if you are stopped on a hill and one wheel starts to spin, you are DEAD. Other AWD systems, like Subaru, won't get stuck.

If only the floor was FLAT with the seats removed. Ever tried lying down on the floor.Too bad they don't slide under. And those big wipers catch the wind and have difficulty moving any load of snow. Also, where is the hidden hitch system? It's rated at 3500 lbs, but that requires a toe bar installed, that may not be compatible with AWD because it hangs too low.

Excellent review!Although my wife and I only have 1 child currently, we do a lot of big bulk shopping and a lot family car pooling. AWD is a must for us. So I would spend a little extra for a spare and jack.

The sienna awd is the best van in canada because of its awd. even little push from the rear wheels helps a lot. something is better than nothing.

We have a 2014 Sienna LE which is a very nice vehicle. Two things we dislike are pairing the cell phone and constant rocks damaging the windshield. The angle of the windshield is such that rocks will eventually require full windshield replacement. It took about 1-2 years before the windshield was replaced.

Would be interesting to see a double foot driving in these cars that don't self brake spinning tires effectively. just enough to stop the tire but not prevent forward movement.

You can try turning off traction control, but the biggest limiting factor is a lack of limited slip or transferring power to a wheel with traction. As I said above, if one wheel starts to spin, the whole thing will come to a stop unless you have enough momentum to keep it going past the slipping area. Once you're stopped on a hill, if a wheel starts to spin, you're DEAD!

The run flat tires sucks, we put non rft and got a spare tire, the dealership doesn't "approve that" but also rft are unsafe our 2 rear tires broke on us in a very long trip so that's not good either.

Does this car have run flats or a spare tire? I recently bought a 2012 sienna AWD. I had to replace a 4 tires within a year! Run flats are expensive and they suck. They are also hard to find so expect wasting an entire day or weekend if you get a flat$$$$$$$$

My 2015 rft's are making noise at 21K, going to check with firestone before I look into bearings, think bearing are ok. What do you think about going to regular tires with no spare Continental True contact? with RFt you can drive to tire shop unless shreded 1 patch& Plug only. Better in snow and 168 on tire rack. I also just got a hunter roadforce balence, wow what a difference I was fighting my tires. he said someone brought in a brand new sienna Junked the RFT's and got regular tires. Someone made a spare tire kit take up well space in back but is alternative.

Wow I'm impressed with the awd..... I wonder if your able to To lift it like 2 inches and add some nice BFG all terrain tires and it would be almost unstoppable....more brands should offer awd .....I have 03 Honda Odyssey with 3.5 vtecv6 and it's a blast to step on it cuz it just pulls like if it were a regular Honda Accord with v6 (technically it is an accord) and when I go to big bear to see the snow I never have any traction issues but having awd would make it feel more secure and would be way funner driving thru the snow knowing you have the pulling power of awd

Great video, very thorough. one technical correction though; you keep mentioning towing, but the AWD version only gets a towing capacity of 1000-ish pounds. for the full 3500-ish pound capacity, you must stick to the FWD version.

A superb observation! I based my review on the Toyota Spec found on their website for the capacity. www.toyota.ca/toyota/fr/vehicles/sienna/specifications/capacity For an XLE awd, yes it's 1000lbs For LE AWD 7 places, 3500lbs is it an error, not sure... I can confirm with Toyota to get a sure validation about that.

hey i understan the sienna has awd, but just think would the sienna respond to mud and mixed together. my family and i have a 2014 Honda Odyssey that has permomed excellent in ice with the d4 and off options, plus the 3rd road seat is way more spacious and comfortable which the sienna is not at all. I don't think everything is about luxury like some wood on the dash, instead is practicality

AWD is great when the vehicle is moving, but because it doesn't have limited slip, as soon as one wheel loses traction, especially from a startup, the whole thing comes to a stop. Why didn't Toyota include limited slip or a switch to lock wheels? The "toque vectoring" is just hype. Note, AWD doesn't nothing on the highway or to help you stop.

At least it moved. A regular FWD would have been ended up stuck there. AWD is different from a 4x4 and the power distribution is not uniform on all 4 wheels. Sienna uses Transverse AWD. Most AWD cars and crossovers are built on a FWD platform

if i was in that position with my 4x4 plow truck the unweighted diagonal wheels would also spin. is that what you're talking about? limited slip diff would solve that issue but not an absolute necessity, still much better than 2wd.
