That’s a really nice comment & exactly where we are trying to go with it. There’s plenty of channels with “how to” and plenty of review & build ones too we felt we are infotainment & we both love doing them. I love tinkering with bikes and Simon loves marketing and media so although he draws the short straw for spending the most time it seems to be working! 🧡

The customer is lucky to have you, some bike shops wouldn’t go through all the trouble to cleanup so nicely.

This channel has come a long way within a short period. I love that you tried to restore as much as possible of the existing drivetrain instead of just smack a new 1x drivetrain on there to make it look fancy.

This channel has inspired me to see value in some old family bikes in bad disrepair. I was going to give them away. So far, since the summer, I have rebuilt 3 bikes. This Christmas I took my rebuilt 2003 Gary Fisher Sugar 2+ Race for a spin. It runs like it was brand new. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. One question I have: If I decide to replace an old bearing race with ball bearings. How do I know what size ball bearing to use? - Best Regards, Dan from Colorado.

Great job, That bike is probably better now than when it left the factory! As a matter of interest how to do dispose of your degreaser? I tend to re-use mine until it practically disappears.

I just purchased a 2nd hand Carrera vengeance today. It had been sitting unused for about 2 years, I'll be honest, it was pretty rough looking but still quite decent, the frame is good, as is the tyres and brakes but the whole drive train looked like somone had sprayed grease over everything, it was a right mess, all the dirt had stuck to everything. First quick ride and yup the rear derailleur got hung up on the back wheel, oh what a mess, ive ordered a new genuine derailleur and copy rear hanger, i couldnt find an original, anyway ive cleaned everything up and its a lot better looking now than what it was, ive degreased and oiled everything, now just waiting on the bits...😊...if you were local i would have given you the bike and you could have performed a service. I took a cog out of the derailleur to get the chain off, kinda guessing it's a pain to refit the new derailleur by removing a cog, i think the gearing needs adjusting, thats what caused the issue...im going to have to look into that and see how to set it up, ah well, wishing everybody the best, i like your video's, really 1st class work 😊

My father-in-law has just gave me his crossfire 2. It has the same problem with the rear derailleur. Halfords fixed it twice previously and it has happened again. Iv stripped it down and noticed Halfords have made a bodge job and filed down a hanger to make it fit. Is there a place I can get a hanger that’s the same as the original?

How do you dispose of the contents of the ultrasonic cleaner? Not only will it contain dirt but also old grease and oil, so you just can't throw it down the drain.

I have a question; here you could see that the chain was worn, but doesn't that imply that you also must change out the cassette, if you go for a new chain?
@Bikespeeds3 жыл бұрын
Only if the new chain skips on the cassette or indeed the front chain set or even both!
@huntingwithjacob4475 Жыл бұрын
Does anybody now how to take my chain of my carrera bike because on a carrera bike on the chain it doesn’t have a master link and I don’t have a chain breaker tool
The sad reality of carrera bikes like other makes, is that they are made with sub standard & cheap materials especially the rear derailleurs. These are so flimsy they deform easily under stress. This problem of the rear derailleur & hangers deforming is so common. It is a deliberate design fault that is not being dealt with. Its not only the youth bikes, which get the most abuse but also everyone else who buys these Carreras. Inevitably when they break they come back to Halfords for repair (more money) or independent bike shops. Component on mtbs from the late 80s & throughout the 90s were far tougher & able to withstand abuse.

lets set up a petition to stop e bikes using canal walkways i had someone shout at me coming thru at 5 am going to work and had to move over only to have my Derailleur and Hanger destroyed by branches from bushes leaving me stranded. E bikes should only be on roads that's why their is cycle lanes
