He's the MOST emotive personality. I played in a concert with him the same day Pavarotti was buried. I believe he flew to that concert in Germany directly from the service in Italy. He cried a lot on stage, was extremely emotional, and gave the most unforgettable, spellbinding performance.

They were extremely good friends, when Carreras had cancer, Pavarotti phoned him up frequently and offered him anything he wanted to make it easier on him.

How dare anyone presume to say how a grieving person should behave and what they should or should not say. When my father died, we were cracking jokes at the funeral. It wasn't until a year later When i heard Rhydian singing "The living Years " on c.d. in the car that i cried. This was neither right or wrong, just me , dealing in my own way.

I live next to a large church. At least once a week, I have to walk through a crowd of mourners, waiting to carry the coffin in and begin the service. And it's almost ALWAYS like that. People making jokes and laughing. The only time it's not like that, is if the person was murdered or something. In the case of people who died of cancer or other illnesses, everyone is very upbeat outside the church. And everyone who has been to funerals of family members, probably remembers feeling the same. It's not relief, exactly, but it's something similar to it. People who expect everyone to be miserable , clearly haven't experienced shit, yet.

Nice to see this. Fun when Mr. Carreras seemed to amuse himself when at the end he added "and a great poker player" - Expressenpunktse mentioned this. I have to admit that I didn't know Carreras until The Three Tenors and I'm very glad to have come to hear him in a setting which was also clearly fun for all involved.

I agree with Sr.Carreras, maestro Pavarotti was a great tenor, and his death creates a hole,in my heart, and a void,he is loved, and will be missed, his voice was a treasure as he was.Salvatore Licitra, was also a great tenor, and will also be missed.May God bless them all.The great tenor are the best.As was Mario Lanza.

What nonsense. Carreras is well-known in the opera business as being an extremely kind, good-hearted and humble performer. That you would insult him--and in the context of his mourning the death of a good friend--shows what an awful person YOU are.

I wasn't meaning to suggest that Pavarotti's death didn't mean something personal to all his other friends and fans, because it was obviously deeply upsetting to them all; only that i think carreras was mentioning things that he personaly remembered that others may not. I won't say more in case i get it wrong. I'm off to watch a few vids before bed. Stay happy.

Well it also says so in the book of Herbert Breslin. That he could bluff brilliently with absolutly nothing in his hands. And win a lot.And he was proud of that. Apparantly those three things describe him as the person he was: a charming personality, food and cardplaying.
