This brings back many memories of dear old Carrick on Shannon on regatta day,or having an orange juice a McHughs pub.I visited Carrick from 1950 to 1964 till i was fourteen every summer with my mother father and sister,at my Grandparents house at St Patricks park My grandfather Francis Carr was a postman in the old P>T.I travelled all over Lietrim and Roscommon in the Ford popular and Volkswagen post vans. My gran Lester Carr her cousin was Mr Hillard minister of the P>T Haylcion days.

Wonderful footage, I saw this on a screen when I was in a fine pub in Rooskey a couple of months ago ... I just uploaded it to Vanishing Ireland page in Facebook where I am sure it will be well received, and will also share to Wistorical on Facebook later. Thanks for posting.

Does anyone know where the dancing and the music at the cross roads was taking place. It looks like Cox’s cross on bonfire night. Great footage.

Everyone looks so smart considering they were much poorer. The buildings are kept to a higher standard, more taste in other words.
