Even back then, Cherie was trying to out sing Carrie and Carrie just went up a couple of tiers higher and left Cherie in the dust. It was fans who got rid of Cherie.

I think what happen was Cherie her backup singer was caught off-guard by Carrie quick burst of going up high. Cherie thought I am more experience. Problem was Carrie can do that all the time.
