Happy Freelance Friday!
Hi! I’m Carrieblogger, a full-time career freelancer on Fiverr Pro. Since I started in 2013, I’ve built up a sustainable, consistent business with a six-figure annual ‘salary’. I work as a copywriter and branding consultant for small to medium-sized brands around the world.
Marketing, advertising, and ecommerce in general are tricky, tricky, tricky industries. The art of capturing attention, sharing information, and persuading action is - well, an art. Today's video is a bit of a copywriting tutorial - copywriting for beginners, if you will, but it's mostly a commentary on how the big names in business can get a little complacent, then the little guys copy/paste the same garbage and it turns into a marketing trend. It's not necessarily because it works - at least, not always. Sometimes, this copywriting template just gets recycled enough times that everyone assumes it rakes in the big bucks and gets good traction. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. Either way, it's cringe crap and we can do better. Join me!
Learn how to make money online and work from home as a freelance copywriter like me! Whether you're building a freelance copywriting business or selling another skill online, freelance platforms like Fiverr are changing the future of work. Now you can monetize your talent and learn how to work from home. Freelance copywriting on Fiverr is my absolute dream job - hands down. Every Freelance Friday, I share freelancing tips, freelance advice, advice for freelancers, Fiverr tips, Fiverr advice, advice for Fiverr sellers, Fiverr business tips, and a look inside my freelance lifestyle as a solopreneur business copywriter. It's a blast!

I'm so happy that you took the time to mention the sexualization of massage parlors and along with it, asian women! It's so important to bring up.

It is!! So important!!

This stereotype has a real basis. Sadly, there was a time not so long ago when questionable looking (i.e., organized crime operations) "massage" parlors exploiting Asian women workers were being shut down in police stings and were on the news. I remember driving along a Midwestern interstate about 12 years ago and seeing two such establishments lit up with glaring neon signs, only a few miles apart.

This video was so well put together: no fluff, humourous, serious. I 'review' ads on the train and it would take me MINUTES to figure out what it means. Part 2! 😊

Yup, all of those things. I work for a big international corporation and they pull this stuff on staff in internal communications.

These things truly need to go away and a big bank like Capital One doing these shows how unaware they are about trends and feedback. For me, the biggest cringe is indeed the list for sites not appropriate for kids. You are awesome for discussing the issue of stereotyping massage parlors. It's bad for legit professionals. I loved all other points too, the donkey cartoon and "the secret" with the Facebook ad recommendation were both hilarious. I think your book launch was successful! It was your first launch and despite that, it was grand and you did so well! Please continue to mention the book as it is awesome and needs to reach to many people! "You're my actual hero" tagline is such a great idea for your Merch. Thank you for sharing this helpful video and for your work, Carrie! Have a great weekend!

@@carrieblogger I agree with you, Carrie! They seem to try and get attention of people using keywords but the implementation is pretty bad. The secret is either a common sense thing or something that they'll never tell (Like, trade secrets for example)!

Hmmm, I thought "genius trick" or "you MUST know" kind of tag lines will not work but hey with that many comments and reactions on their Facebook post must be doing something. 👀🤔 And, THAT artwork. You said everything. Wow! 😂 Plus, I hope you are doing well!

Seriously! But who knows -- maybe that sponsored ad had a broadcast reach of 57,000 and ended up with 200 comments. Hard to tell if big corporations like that just have money to throw away on meh campaigns that kind of work (probably) and don't have the foresight/leadership/creative resources to actually invest that money in better marketing.
@snrn911

@@carrieblogger That's true! It seems lazy on their part to spend money so much money on adverts and not put any effort into good, effective marketing. They can easily do it. Resources are available so easily and not that expensive as well.

I'm stopping the video at 3:44. One of the reasons I like your rants is- it just came to me- you have the heart of a journalist. Injustice and cringy traps just tick you off to no end and get under your skin. You just have to write abot it, blog about, broadcast about it. It all comes from a very good place. I love it. Now to continue with the video....

Sometimes I wish it wouldn't get under my skin so that I could just do the thing, trick the people, make the money, buy the island, exploit the empire. But alas...

@@carrieblogger I know!!! I'm trying to make the move from the cold journalism pool to the warm Fiverr freelance pool. It's almost painful. It's taking so much time. It's like selling a part of the soul. I fear not being a crusader and instead writing about how your life will not be complete without flowery stick-ons for the bathroom.
