I am currently preparing for gate exam and there isn't much time until examination comes. If only I found this lectures before, my life could have been lot easier. Anyway the lectures are awesome and i am quite stunned by the amount of details and clarity of the concepts which is constant for every lectures. Thank you so much for making it available for free so that electronics enthusiast like us could able to learn about these concepts.

16:41 guess the thermal velocity won't matter because in the particular approximation, we are just assuming electron is initially stationery (with its effective mass approximation) and that its velocity (rather speed) just keeps going from 0 to v every tau seconds in the direction of the applied field.. The real complicated picture is simplified just to this.. and so we are able to come up with mobility... the real piece of gem that is making all this approximation possible is probably the 'effective mass' approximation, right?

Because the energy or can say momentum gained is lost while scattering in form of heat, light(photons in Led/Laser GaAs) or vibrations(Phonon)

Hi sir, How holes having higher mass than electron, basically holes are not moving right, due to electrons(subatomic particle) occupies a free vacant ,it creates visualization of holes movement to us?

Three scattering mechanisms are present in a particular semiconductor material. If only the first scattering mechanism were present, the mobility would be u1=u1= 2000 cm^2/V-s, , if only the second mechanism were present, the mobility would be u2u2 =1500 cm^2/V-s ,, and if only the third mechanism were present, the mobility would be u3u3 =500cm^2/V-s . what is net mobility ?n
