I personally wish there was a library sort of thing for journals. Like you can give your old journals after you die or even when you are alive there. Then other people who would like to read about somebody's life will grab one journal, purchase it maybe or just take it and read it. In this way, strangers have the maximum chance to read our journals so they might not judge us or get hurt. And it also ensures that people who are interested in reading them will get an opportunity. I personally would love to read about other people's life.

Yea just like mass publish the journals (if the person is ok with it if they're alive or if they write somewhere in the journal or have something in writing that says they want them to be published or in their will or something) and put it in libraries maybe have some pages have the actual handwriting but most typed up so it's easier to read especially if the person's handwriting is kinda hard to read or in cursive so people can understand it better than struggling to read it

I’m chronically ill, and don’t have a good prediction of how long I’ll live, so I’ve definitely thought about this. I’m on my second journal and there’s definitely things I’d rather no one see, so I’m considering scanning my favorite pages that I’ve done and give those to people and have the rest probably burned. My problem is that I don’t want to put it off just in case.

I can understand this feeling- I’m chronically ill too and have been journaling since 2016 (when my health issues started) and there are some journals that I wouldn’t want anyone to see bc they’re too dark. I started tearing out the good pages in those dark journals and putting them in a folder to keep, the rest I think I’m going to burn.

Another chronically-ill Journal writer, here...I am actually currently Hospitalized and have been writing ✍ within my Journal throughout this (and every Hospital stay). I am writing ✍ in my 63rd Journal volume soon. I wish I could publish them in way Anne Frank, Sylvia Plath, and Anais Nina had their personal writings published. Those that know me in this Life truly know so little about me. I have kept to myself.. I had to or otherwise face their abuse and judgment. They will at long last be made privy to the true, authentic me when I Die and all of my Journals are available to be read.

So I’ve actually thought about this and what I would do if my journals got damaged by a disaster. I’m currently on journal 35 so I have a lot of them. What I’m doing is I am currently scanning my journals and transcribing them. After that I plan on burning them. If I do pass on my journals I would pass on the transcript. I can also edit the part I don’t want to share. Keeping them preserved, but keeping my privacy. Also if something happens to them while I am alive I can still access them.

Just today I finished my first journal, which in itself was a huge accomplishment, but it wouldn't have happened without the amount of inspiration you gave me to start a journal in the first place from watching your videos. I used to write maybe one or two pages and then just get bored, but ever since I started watching your videos, I have been doing daily writing which has helped me channel my anxiety and just overall overwhelming emotions as a teenager, really just trying to figure everything out. A lot of things have happened over the past year that have REALLY taken a tole on my mental health, but journaling really helped me realize that my mental health, (or your mental health in general) always goes first. What an uncommon question! There are many facets to consider. My dad writes everything! I would find comfort and heartbreak in reading it. Also, I may be upset in some of my interpretation. Publishing is a cool idea. But timing would be hard. Love the idea of a disclaimer. Maybe publish categories. "Read when you need comfort" "when you need a laugh"....etc. frame certain pages for certain people, then burn the rest. Or give them to a trusted loved one. Love you, Carrie! Hi, Carrie, okay, I've been watching you for a long time, but I decided to write a comment for the first time. I'm a pretty depressed person, besides, I live in Russia and that explains everything. When I was in the 2nd year, I almost did something starting with "s" and ending with "cide". Then I reached the point of no return, when I no longer cared what of my innermost thoughts and feelings would be read. I wrote a goodbye note right in my diary. 5 years have passed since then, I have never reread that note because I was wildly afraid to find something there that would destroy me again. So I think I won't care about my diaries after I die.

They is a difference between having a burn book and a journal 4. Go unedited, they need to see the good, the bad, and the ugly 5. Never heard of anyone wanting to be buried with their journals 6. Thinking of donating my journals to the university library, archives and special collections, where I graduated. There are many libraries and archives that would love to have diaries and journals. I am concerned, however, about the personal stuff and the people mentioned in my writing who have no say in my decision. Of that, I am torn. But, you may negotiate the time period that must lapse before they are read, 25 years after death, 40, 50. Still thinking this through.

I also thought about it. I've got a HUGE amount of journals and some of them are from a very different version of myself, like there's a before and an after I started seeing a therapist and those are very dark journals... 😹😹 however, I have been thinking... What if nobody cares about me anymore when I pass away? What if there's nobody to "take care of me" in that way? Somebody's life is a heavy burden... And, boy, those journals are soooo heavy too! But what if nobody wants to know you? That would be even sadder. The embarrassing parts... Well, I wouldn't care since I'm no more. They can think about me anything they want, but the real truth is in those pages because I'm them I cannot be anyone but me. Such an interesting point you did! Thank you 💙💙
