As far as props and wardrobe go, this is a legit piece of history. It wasn't even my generation, but even I love Archie.

That's got to be a VERY conservative estimate for that coat, because I think if sold at an auction, it would easily clear $75,000. The coat is a television icon.

I saw this episode when it first aired and i STILL don't understand had O'Connors daughter in law could just sell that coat for $40. She had to know it was highly collectible. The furniture is in the Smithsonian - how could she know not that his coat would be nearly as iconic? All I can say is, goodnight nurse, i wish i'd been at that estate sale first!

My grandfather would have loved this. He was an alcoholic who almost never talked, laughed, or left the house after suffering a stroke. The only time I EVER saw him happy was when he was watching All in the Family or Sanford and Son.

I watch reruns of All in the the Family all the time! I watched it in prime time television when each episode was new! I think that coat was in every episode! I saw Archie's chair in the Smithsonian museum of American History when they first put it on display! That is one lucky lady to have that!

I am usually surprised by prices quoted on here, as they are far higher than I thought. This one, completely the opposite. This is an iconic piece of TV History. At auction, it could go for so much more. (An example: a pair of blue jeans worn by Olivia Newton John on an episode of THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL in the 1970's recently went for 50,000.00 via her estate auction).

This is probably my favorite moment ever on the AR. It just encapsulates everything good about memorabilia. She has no clue what it is when she buys it and then after using it to walk her dog and pick up his poop finds out its one of the most iconic pieces in TV history. It's just a perfect segment.

It's a little hard to understand how she, or some friend/family who could've advised her, had no idea that a prop wardrobe from a seriously iconic, legendary TV show would be worth some serious bucks (?) With just basic intelligence one could easily see it worth a few thousand dollars. I would say it could go beyond $20,000 at auction.

I believe for the first time ever on Antiques Roadshow, they finally grossly underestimated an item, and this was it... $20K,??? Try $80 - $100K and maybe more. This coat absolutely is a part of American history to millions and millions of people. You got the Decloration Of Independence, Thomas Edison's phone, Anything from a space mission, a President or the 1st Model T and Archie Bunker's coat.

I am so envious, that is a treasure. I think it would probably sell for way more than $10-20k. I have to imagine more like $40-50k+, because I can't really afford something like that and I would have no problem selling some of my other collectibles and forking 10k over for it in a heartbeat. I have to imagine a serious collector of such things with a budget would be more motivated than me to pay a lot more.
