Cumbernauld here,been meaning to try the Carron Valley out for a while. Thanks for posting a cracking video-might push me to make a visit soon.

Thanks! It's worth a visit for some cross country singletrack and the trails are decent all year round.

Dude, we ride the trails in the glen (not the glen mile). It’s only a tiny wee trail without jumps but it’ll give you a good buzz. Does the job until lockdown’s done with. You’re welcome to join us.

Love the video Bro, went on Friday 3rd Dec after recommendation on Edinburgh Mountain Bike FB page. I’m pretty new to Mountain Biking but loving it and have done all the Blues at GT along with all the trails at Canada Wood. I will need to return to Carron Valley as I must admit I got lost as my Garmin with pre loaded route would not connect but I managed to do the bottom loop twice. Great work pal and keep it up 👍

Was briefly out here today when passing through. piperdream trail (this red trail next to carpark) is closed further up at the first bit of forest road. If doing the cannonball run you'll need to take the forest roads around to the start
@TheFlowingScotsman4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the heads up for anyone looking to visit now. The forest road is a bit boring but may be quicker? It would be good if it was closed for improvements but probably not by what I've heard. Hopfully wont be closed for long.

@@TheFlowingScotsmanThe sign said closed for forest operations so followed the forest road down and around and it looks like there has been some clearance work going on or something. Maybe they'll improve the track once they're done

Use these trails more for fitness but a good bit of fun. Could do with some work as parts don’t really make sense but good for everyone.
@TheFlowingScotsman4 жыл бұрын
I think it does need a bit of a revamp as the design and limited features are a bit dated nowadays. Hopfully they'll do that with a consultation from proper trail designers next time. Good for a pedal and some cv work but the potential is there.
@Suede1374 жыл бұрын
The Flowing Scotsman definitely potential but I’ve been going for about 15 years and it’s not changed too much. Which is a shame as it has massive potential. It’s got the elevation and facilities. 👍🏻

how long are those trails? suitable for beginners? I just bought my 1st bike in 20years and only tried Callendar Estate blue trail
@TheFlowingScotsman3 жыл бұрын
You'll be ok there as there's not much difference between Callendar Blue and Carron Valley. You have a bit more assistance from gravity here and these are longer trails but it never gets steep and nothing major to avoid. The first downhill section from the top is Eas Dubh, it's about half a mile long followed by Cannonball which is about the same and the last section called Runway is a bit longer than those. It's a great place to learn and get back into the swing of things. Just take it easy for the first few runs and stick to the basics and you'll be fine. Good luck!

How long roughly to cycle up?

It's not too bad. I'm not setting any climbing records and it took about 20 mins.

YT Jeffsey, Aluminium frame, 27.5. It's a full sus with 150mm travel front and rear. Just sold it so on the lookout again for my next bike.
