Very well done! It's great to see the correct method on video. I read a booklet on it, but seeing it in practice demonstrated by professionals is so much better! Thank you for posting this video! I've practiced the sider knot, both left and right. It is a most ingenious and elegant knot!

Fished my whole life...learned more from this video than from anyone I ever fished with who could teach me or explain to me like this! Great video! 👍

Seriously? Fished your 'whole life' in what division of fishing? Potting? Long-Lining? If you were either deep sea trawling or inshore fishing then your colleagues must be either too lazy too teach or not very good netmenders themselves.

Used your video to repair some baseball nets. Your video was the easiest to follow

Please Can you do another slow demonstration? Can't get where to start on a damaged fishing net.

Is there a tool called a "fid" used in your work?

Questions for you: what type of twine was used for this demonstration and where can you get it? It seems to hold the knots really well. Another question, do you ever use a gauge when making net repairs?

Hi Steven, this is not our video - we felt it is beneficial so we shared it. The twine we use to make our netting is nylon.

@@CarronNetCompany thank you very much! Thanks for sharing this great video!

@@stevenrobertson4470 The resolution of the video is quite low on my works PC but this definitely looks like P.E. twine in use to me. As a side note I have been in the net construction and repair business for over 50 years. It looks like Euroline netting and twine.

I agree. It's much harder when mending a monofilament cast net since nylon has an incredible memory making it hard to maneuver. Plus the mesh size is much smaller. My cast net has a mesh size of 3/8 of an inch so you can imagine how hard it is! But, no matter how hard it is, I always follow the instructions presented on this video, which is the correct way of mending a cast net. Some folks out there just close the hole as if they're sowing an opened wound.

This is the best video. I made a couple of hammocks, I left out over winter, and it seems that one was made out of "tasty" string. I assume squirrels, or mice chewed the shit out of one, some kind of white core inside the rope. (the paracord one wasn't touched.) Anyway, even though I tied them myself, I couldn't figure how to get "started in the middle".
