That industrial dispute lasted throughout the summer. Took Grandstand off ther air. The last thing to be broadcast was The 1983 Ryder Cup [From A.B.C.] afternoon only on B.B.C. and the 1983 Grand Prix in which Nigel Mansell won that year"s world championship. I am surte that is right but stand to be corrected.

Industrial disputes weren't confined to the 1970's as this clip ( from 1983 ) proves.

Yes, but unlike the 1970s any industrial action on TV in the 80s meant repeats were shown instead of the original programme.
