whats up with gladiators 3rd skill?

A few patches ago they added a sub ability that you can swap into. When you do, the whip only damages heroes in the aoe. That is so you don't push the lane if you don't want to

​@@ogjos it is useful when you dont want to push, many cases for this, in mid you can keep the enemy from creeps forever and in 2v2 you can keep lane control without a pull for mid it really depends how the game is going, if you keep enemy mid from ever getting any creeps he will go around ganking more, and you will also stay at mid more yourself, then if you use the normal spell you can abuse his movements to push and let your creeps die to enemy tower so he loses an entire wave and then open an opportunity to gank yourself or farm camps in the jungle. it all lines up very nicely and im not sure why did they give this to gladiator, he was already a great hero
