Not to mention has the best line in cinema history, Infamy, infamy, they’ve all got it in for me.

Great channel that I found recently. Grew up on a huge diet of Carry on movies… such a great british collection. Got to give a shout here to Warren Mitchell as the latter half of Marcus & Spencius. 😂 Subscribed!!

My favourite Carry On. I think that 'Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me.' was chosen as the funniest line in British comedy films. It is full of hilarious stuff: Bilius: Hail, Mark Antony! Mark Antony: Hail - snow, rain, thunder, lighting - the lot! Julius in?

According to Michael Caine. Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor owned a print of Carry on Cleo and would watch it often or show it at they're celebrity parties. Liz apparently thought it was hilarious and reckoned it was miles better than Cleopatra.

One of my favourites along with Screaming, Up The Khyber and Again Doctor.

Excellent. Thank you for this. Carry On Cleo was the first time I actually laughed at a Carry On film. I found them dull as ditch water when I was a child. And then Cleo came along. For starters it didn't have Barbara Windsor in it, the jokes were genuinely funny. (I notice you didn't mention the homophobic "Iron" joke. That one goes right over most people's heads). The cameos were superb. And Jim Dale fitted in nicely as the 'hero' . Bloody lovely. Cheers.

Carry On Cleo had the biggest budget of all the Carry On films.

My favorite Carry On! It looks sumptuous. So it should with the left over sets from 'Cleopatra'! I agree with you about Amanda Barrie's performance as the siren of the Nile. Given a lead role in the Carry Ons for the first (and only) time, she more than holds her own.

Michael Caine tells a funny story in one of his autobiographies. He visited Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor and found them laughing hard at Carry On Cleo (which had been sent out as a 35mm film)

Bit of a myth about the sets I'm afraid, the main part of the sets and props were actually from a rather lavish theatre production that had not long wrapped up but many of the costumes were from the movie, lregardless still enjoy these videos ;)

Right at the top of all the films, closely followed by Kyhber and Screaming. That said you could probably have a good laugh watching most of them except for the dire later ones, I am talking about Henry, England Dick and the less said about Emmanuelle the better

Cleo, Screaming, and Khyber are probably my top 3 for Carry On movies. In my opinion, the last good Carry On was Abroad. Never as good after that with England and Emmanuelle being bloody awful. Likewise, Emmanuelle tried to be sexy, Carry Ons should be postcard innuendo.

I’m a big fan of the Carry Ons. But I don’t like Cleo as much as a lot of people do. Don’t get me wrong - I enjoy the film. But there are many other Carry Ons that I prefer.

Please don't say you prefer 'At Your Convenience'🙏🏻🙁
@GrilloTheFlightless20 күн бұрын
@ I like ‘Convenience’ in its own cheap way (and when I say cheap, I mean the humour and not the budget!) You know what your going to get, and sometimes I fancy a bit of low-brow class-baiting. But I can’t pretend it’s a well-written classic, that’s for sure! It lacks both the wit and the production values of Cleo. For my money, the 1970s was a damaging period for the Carry Ons and they were not so much cheeky seaside postcard humour and had become more akin to sleazy sex romps (although there were some good ones in that period). I liked the earlier films, with Spying being a masterclass in how to do a light-hearted farcical parody on a low budget. I know it sounds daft to say this about a Carry On, because we don’t watch them for historical accuracy after all, but I can never get past the brontosaurus joke. It takes me out of the movie a bit. But it’s still a well put together film, and I fully see why it’s regarded a classic.
