carrying your fishing rod in the woods

I answer a viewer question... well, I actually dodge his question, and try and fix/answer another issue I identified... yup, how do I carry my 7' fishing rod through the woods... let me explain it in this video.

One thing I forgot to mention that you mentioned in the video when it comes to sensitivity for the backpacking rods I haven't noticed that at all. Like the sensitivity at least the rod I've been using and granted it's not the greatest quality or the fanciest fishing rod but for the amount of use I've got out of it I haven't noticed any lack of sensitivity. Sometime I think we'll have to do a video and I'll show you what gear I use for the river and get your input on it.

Are you saying I'm King Kong? 😂 Actually I did have one backpacking fishing rod brake on me and it was a Shakespeare inexpensive backpacking fishing rod I bought at Bi-Mart and I think it was $20. First time using it was just this last summer and I think it was my second cast I got stuck in the rocks and I figured okay I'll just pull on it the line will break no big deal and apparently it wasn't a line it was my rod that broke in half and I kid you not it didn't take very much tension to break that thing, I was amazed that what little tension it took to break the rod. I don't know if it's just me but I've also noticed that Shakespeare's products have really gone towards the cheaper side when it comes to quality. They used to be a decent brand back in the day but lately I've been noticing a decline. So I guess one important lesson is if you're going to buy a backpacking rod make sure it's more than $20 for a decent rod.
