Chances are that if they don’t allow holsters they also want 3 seconds between shots. #FUDDs
@CarryTrainer2 ай бұрын
Yeah maybe. I'd not call them fudds. Any trip to any public range is like watching drivers. People make mistakes, even more so when they have no training. You've no way to know who knows what or has any experience of any kind. It's not like baking cakes, where you just try again if you mess up. Visit any range and ask the staff to tell you stories about "accidents". You'll certainly hear some crazy stuff. Rules exist for a reason. Pilots, drivers, kindergarten teachers, even fry cooks all get training because what they do affects the health and safety of others. A constitutional right isn't a free pass to do stupid, negligent, or dangerous things that affect others.

Mickey. This is a fantastic aid for those of us who depend on training a good amount at ranges with some limitations. Those drills that you showed by moving your pistol side to side, up and down are drills I had forgotten about from your classes. A huge step forward for me, sir. Thank you! This was a huge help and appreciated!

These are great drills. I train at a PSA range that doesn’t allow drawing from the holster, so this is great.

Thanks, learned a thing or two today. Never forget that training is synthetic experience intended to develop specific skills. The prohibition on drawing from the holster on live-fire ranges dates back to at least the Fifties. Two things that contributed to the amount of leg shots were the holsters used to be cut so that the entire trigger guard was exposed and the draw stroke began after getting a full firing grip on the pistol TO INCLUDE FINGER ON THE TRIGGER. I have some old training material showing those methods--they're important to movie stars using period techniques and possibly for some specialized matches. It also helps to know why specific safety rules are in place. Most of the commercial ranges I've visited prohibited drawing from the holster. Related to 'no holster use" is rapid fire bans at some gun ranges. This can mean "five seconds between individual shots." It may have had something to do with quick-draw hip shooting of single action revolvers--the holster bans did.

So what about Iowa for training classes?
@ericwalls49302 ай бұрын
It looks to me like you release the trigger completely after each shot. Somewhere, I heard a guy say that for better control or quicker fire ….pull the trigger and let it reset just past the wall then pull the trigger again. I have done that for years. Do you think that this is a good or a bad practice?

It's ironic that all these pro-gun shooting ranges won't let you train. I get they don't want a lawsuit, but let me sign a waiver.

@CarryTrainer That's fair. I was practicing draw & fire and was quickly stopped. I spoke with the workers, and they said offered Training classes where I could practice that. So I asked if I completed the class if I'd be allowed to practice it at their range. No lol It's just frustrating. Anyhow, this video was great for the many of us who don't have other options, appreciate it and look forward to part 2!

I wouldn't go to a range that didn't allow draw from the holster. That's usually a red flag that most of the people that go there are untrained. It's unsafe to be around untrained shooters.

Well yeah but when an old grandma is trying to learn how to shoot, to protect her home or family or whatever whos gonna teach her? The range staff who is busy tryina sell time, rentals, and ammo to the next customer? Her husband with dementia? You would probably be the best teacher available to her.
@thomasorchard2 ай бұрын
@@Mister-Miscellaneous5227 Good point. The best thing for her would be to spend time with a competent instructor and pay a couple hundred bucks for an afternoon of training.

All the indoor ranges in here don’t allow draw from holsters. Unless that are private lessons.
