The argument for pain it makes a bit of sense. If a man stubs his toe he might scream out but when fighting in MMA and getting punched hard in the face or kicked no sound. I think it's adrenaline. The race collision vs. cacti scene could be that, idk.

on a serious note, i think they potrayed racial stereotypes in one of the best ways possible in this movie. It's not like they decided to portray the racial minorities as beat up old nissan altimas or something, the only rusty cars in the film are either white-coded or racially non-descript. All the stereotypically black or latinx cars are sparkling low-riders and old timers which would require god knows how much money to restore to such a prestine state in real life, something that is a point of pride in POC communities.

My cousin was born on the exact date Cars was released, so he was obsessed with it after he turned one and I babysat him every single day after school while his mom was at work, so I watched Cars *every single day* for two years straight.
