In certain neighborhoods, such as Los Angeles, Chicago, among others, the type of car you drive makes all the difference between life and death.

Growing up as a teenager in the 80s, I can say for a fact that the D.C. sniper incident had absolutely nothing to do with the popularity of the Chevy caprice in Chicago. It was sometimes referred to as the "poor man's Cadillac" because it had room for five, it was much less than a Cadillac with similar options, and you could easily fixed it up with trues and vogue tires to make it stand out. It was most likely the most popular car in the black community for a decade or two during the late 70s to early 2000s.

I've driven all those cars, never had any problems. Pretty much everyone likes those cars, or liked them in the 80s 90s 2k and still today. Rather than these cars being considered dangerous, it's the neighborhoods and gangs and jackers. Plus the color of the car ( any car) and Rims that make the bullet magnets out of vehicles.

The reason the G-Body in the Impala in the Caprice were popular. They were body on frame cars. The good handle the Urban decay of the city like potholes frost heaves and broken pavement. You had respectable power and in the G-Body you get that four or five comfortably any coop had decent power and you could hop up the motor. They were stylish but could be understated. The Impala could do the same thing but you got a little more room. The Caprice even had a following in the Middle East. Because of its cushy ride over with rough stuff. The other thing that helped the G-Body it had a long production run. Yes the Ford had the Thunderbird but it started out boxy then went to the aero coupe but was a little pricier than the G-Body used. And then Chrysler didn't have anything to compare.

My dad used to have this really nice car in the early 2000s, and it was a red convertible porche boxster that was quite expensive and accidentally went to the hood. Luckily he wasn’t shot or anything. He said as soon as he found out he was in the hood, he tried speeding as fast as possible to leave 😂

They forgot the 1980-1984 Oldsmobile Delta 88, and 1980- 1984 Buick LaSabre sedans that should be on the list of the most cars that you shouldn't drive in certain neighborhoods in Houston, TX I was a teenager in and the mid-90s that I asked my dad can I have one of those cars? That I wanted a S.L.A.B. to fix up, and he said "No". He knew about those type of cars, and I thank God that he said no any of those cars on that list and those two models I've mentioned.

When I was younger in the 90’s I once went to see a friend in Bakersfield California. He had warned me that it was a gang street and that if I saw a guy standing on a corner I should pull over immediately and tell them who I was and my business there. They would use a radio to tell everybody I was ok to be there. This was a street even an ambulance wouldn’t go down without a swat team escort. But I forgot to pull over. Next thing I know was hearing gunshots and my radiator exploding in my 91” Ford F-150. Thankfully I was close to my friends house and he came out. Nobody would mess with him. When he saw it was me he immediately punched the guy shooting at me knocking him out. Then he took the guys gun and handed it to me saying, “he shot up your truck so you can shoot up his car over there it’s the law of the hood “ ironically I always felt safe there after that because I knew the rules.

I'm from the DC area and we loved Caprices/Impalas (Boxes n Bubbles) long before the DC sniper shit. Back then the DMV area police BOLO was actually for a white van and I've been pulled over a few times (at 16, yes I'm the same age as Mr Malvo himself) for driving my uncle's white 97' Grand Caravan. It was shocking that they were caught in a box Caprice simply because there were so many around and nobody thought of it. My lil bro even had a light blue 89 Caprice Classic. My dark cherry 96' Impala SS barely leaves the garage and when i take her out she gets more attention thank any other car I've owned. My 12th year with her and everyone wants to buy her!

I've owned my 82 Regal since 1996. I had it in a mini a storeage. Some color guy wanted it real bad. I wouldn't except anything for it. He was mad. A different storage unit burned down my car had bad smoke damage. Fixed it. Before all this it was vandalized by my ex wife and her brother pretty bad. It's now stored in my home garage and raced in 1/4 mile nowadays.

I’ve had 5 Cutties.. my fav one was a burgundy 83 ragtop all original. You get a lot of love w these cars. Just have to know where you’re at, at all times.. in Cali it’s what you know rather than who you know that’ll save your ass. If you ain’t about that life, then don’t look the part. If you look like you bang but you tell me you don’t bang? In a real hood it means you ranking it! Keep it real fam. It’ll keep you from being “mistaken.”
