My S10 sounds like this when I fire it up every morning. Minus the knocking of course. Even when it's 80 degrees Fahrenheit outside...

Once owned an International TD 20, started on gas and switched to diesel after warmed up. 1 gallon tank of gas would start it about 3 times.
@karlk68604 жыл бұрын
James I live in ND and a buddy of mine cut cotton wood all winter and he used a TD 20 like your talking about because it would always start in the winter when its 0 to -25 degrees then he would warm up the engine on gasoline then switch over to diesel it really was the best of both worlds for him!

They smell exactly the same as a diesel generator when it provides an electrical charge to your "smart" car.

Why is there a lot of smoke??
@Browndogdiesel4 жыл бұрын
Cold starts.
@gdelfs69424 жыл бұрын
David Medina Diesel engine ignite the diesal with heat from the compression. When they are cold there isn’t enough heat to burn the fuel completely or not at all until they run for a while on a few cylinders. They will spit the unburned fuel in the exhaust manifold and muffler and the heat when it is running well finally evaporates it. The blue/black smoke is unburned fuel.

@@gdelfs6942 wow! Thank you so much for the explanation I've been always so curious about that,, it's definitely awesome!
@gdelfs69424 жыл бұрын
Normally Older diesal engine have a block heater of sorts to heat the water in the engine block or an intake air heater so they are easier to start

I just dont understand.. why these people keep starting the engines long time..... they should press fuel by manual pump frst so hight pressuer fuel pump get fuel easy nd then they start engine...no burn starter no hurt engine
@conner56114 жыл бұрын
That's not how cold starts work on diesel these don't have glow plugs or any heatsorces so they require cranking for long periods of time
@jem.tomtomi62314 жыл бұрын
@@conner5611 they have heatsources but on the airflow..at the begening of it... but the problem is about the fuel it self frst...need t pump manual frst nd cause choke (close the air flow even by ur hand while u are starting) then let it take some air...it ill start...
@conner56114 жыл бұрын
@@jem.tomtomi6231 no.. diesel need heat to start cold fuel has nothing to do with it the reason they smoke is unburned diesel to start immediately a diesel needs warm cylinder temperatures
