Nice car with great features Pricing is crazy, that basically Land Cruiser territory 😂 Never thought the Everest would rise to 1M so quick So here's a tip for buyers if you want an American SUV under 600k I suggest you look at Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland previous generation And the Ford Everest Limited ( Also previous generation) They are not super outdated, they do have most of the modern features. Lots of power and torque. They have everything you need in an SUV. Basically just get a low mileage previous model with a warranty plan.

Great video. Although, I'd like to see it up against the new Prado-when it eventually comes out 😁. However, in Australia, there's a good few Rangers that simply switched off and another that applied brakes at 80km/h. Saw these on KZbin. Would there be any comment on this from Ford SA. Before I found out about the new Prado, I was ready to sign the OTP for a Platinum, however, now I'm waiting for the Prado. . Reliability of the Toyota is very hard to beat.

I'm curious about the fuel consumption being as high as it is . I have a Disco 5 with the same engine in it and I get 9.5l/100 around town and 8 fully loaded from Jhb to Natal which i think is great . It could be the aerodynamics ? That Ford front end looks rather blunt . That engine is a gem . Just change the oil pump at 120 000 if you want to keep it long .

That is total nonsense about reliability and just a Toyota "Sales Pitch" because that's all they have left as there products have stagnated over the last couple of years . Watch when the new Fortuner comes out its going to be at least 100k more expensive with mediocre engine and trim levels as is the case with most of there vehicles. I find it really funny when people say Toyota have good resale when there car cost 100k more to begin with, Resale is only relevant if you talk about lower end market as any car over 500k will drop in value substantially the higher there original price escalates.

In reality, you can't say anything about this until you go for a comprehensive test drive. This is a new dawn for SUV's in SA, nothing on the roads in that price bracket can come close to the new Everest. Go and test drive it, your mind will be blown.
@andrewdrussell

So everyone is aware. The front-side park sensors only begin to beep if an object is within 25cm from the vehicle. So if there is a bollard hidden over the front left bonnet, and you don’t know it’s there, you will only have milliseconds to react to stop the car. The specification says these alerts should start from 60cm but even that isn’t giving you enough time if it worked as designed. Sadly it only starts from 25cm which is near to contact. Plus the beep is very soft compared to previous models. So basically for such a technically advanced vehicle, and a huge vehicle, one of the most basic features is almost non-functional.

I have the Gen2 Everest, and I love it a lot! Best car I've ever had, not worried about climbing onto things, fitting things (and people), etc, so obvs my dream car is the new Everest. But I'm disappointed that there are only 2 options available in SA, either blacked-out like G.I. Jane (cause that's exactly what a 30 something mom wants 🤦‍♀️) or pay over a million bucks for a "normal" looking SUV that kills me on diesel 🤔 Love the big screen though, I noticed they switched the cruise control buttons to the other side of the steering wheel, that will take some getting use to! Also, the plug is very disappointing 😞 The 2 biggest issues I have with my Everest are: 1. The spare wheel is not the same size as the tires on the vehicle and 2. The painted door handles scratch like crazy. Would have liked a more in-depth look at the features that make the new Everest better in this video, but thanks for the review!

I took the Platinum for a test drive. Not impressed with the comfort, or lack thereof. Yes, it's got a lot of impressive of technology which sets it ahead of other vehicles in the same segment but is that all there is? I have to say I expected a way better ride from what supposed to be luxurious in the spec. I understand it is bakkie based however for R1mil plus it should be pleasant. I have a 2015 Discovery Sport and yes it is a more luxurious brand but a vehicle of this price 8 years later ought not to be such a bumpy ride. Even whilst driving on the highway I felt bumps that I could not even see such that I could feel my stomach contents vibrating and I'm not exaggerating. It was not as pleasant as this review suggests. Yes, powerful but not the beast I expected for a V6. Perhaps I should test drive an older Everest to notice any upgrades in the model. Compare apples with apples. Test drive a Fortuner which is said to have a bit of body roll around bends. I wonder if the preordered 18inch rims with all terrain tyres would make much of a difference. I was somewhat set to upgrade to this when I watched videos in advance however after test driving I'm not sure I can get comfortable with the ride. I wonder what it will feel like on gravel which is a frequent terrain for me and unfortunately there's indemnity forms to fill in at the dealership before you can do that. I am looking at the Prado which Ford claims this competes with. The Prado falls far behind with the interior, technology, etc. However, technology gets old in any vehicle, however comfort does not.

The new Everest in this Platinum spec looks great, a major step forward for Ford- well done to the styling department! It definitely appeals to a particular market who will get caught up in the perceived looks and gadgetry - but underneath all the plastic it will be guaranteed to be plagued with Fords questionable build quality. Ford's hit-and-miss reliability doesn't help either. Then again, I have a 2019 XC60 that hasn't gone wrong once in four years, and their reliability is supposedly not great either. Beautiful car but holy bajoly that price is eye watering. The Fortuner might be longer in the tooth but it’s also almost R300k cheaper for the VX which is why it will still outsell this. A million bucks for a Ford… who would have thought…

Yep. Although, the reality is that a Million ZAR is not that much anymore... That is the even more scary part!!! Most of us are just not earning what we should be earning OR at least, what we where earning a few years back, thanks to the tumbling Rand... ALSO, Thanks to the A...N...C...

Wait for the new Fortuner. In order to take the fight to Ford, it will be similarly priced. That said, for that extra 300k you get a lot of car. The Everest no longer competes with the Fortuner, but the Prado

We had 20+ Toyotas and Fords since the 2000s. Toyota was always the best but it has really changed since 2015. All Toyota is reliable and second hand value, nothing more. Objectively Ford is better in every other category. We have had 6 Fords in our family since 2015. None of them has ever broken down or had a problem. Our 2016 Ford Ranger 3.2TDCi 4x4 supercab has 250 000km and is stilling running like new. Toyota has always won reliability, but its getting really close. The last thing Toyota has going for it is second hand value.

What many owners and dealer sales agents don't know, is the front sun visors can slide on their mounting when unclipped! Brilliant for when the sun is between normal sun visor position and the rear view mirror!! And when you swing the visors to the side, it also slides on its mounting so you don't have sun glare or burn in that irritating gap with door pillar!!! I know this coz I own a 2021 version.

@@Carscoza Also really enjoying the app, it is much improved. A feature that I would like to see is a filter for a vehicle's power output. Maybe in 25kw increments or so. So you could filter for a car under R300k with over 100kw as an example.
