That bike didn't have a chance, I was thinking that it would be more nimble on the turns or something. It was out matched and out classed in every way possible. The sound of the formula 1 car downshifting at 0:16 as it came around the bend I had to listen to multiple times. Awe inspiring and it puts in prospective how elite F1 cars really are! Great video

Indeed. Completely true that the bike didn't have a chance. The car costs > $10,000,000. While the bike costs > $20,000. Still, it was a fun matchup. Also of importance... The car is not street legal. I ride my S1000RR at the track AND on the streets.

@@malcolmjones6010 even with Marc Marques on that bike, he wouldnt have been able to keep up. You just cant compare the peak of prototype race cars with a bike, let alone a production one. You can get lots of more power through corners just because there is more grip available to you. two thin wheels (compared to the f1 ones) just dont cut it if youre going against that.

You are correct. Not to mention that the performance of both vehicles is limited by different parameters (ie the homologation requirements of F1 v those of MotoGP). And in any case four contact patches would always trump two.

@@rykehuss3435 I never said that the bike could have won in any way. All that I was saying is that the "car" represents the state of the art of closed circuit racing while the bike is street legal. Actually I might be wrong with that because that bike is not streetlegal. Nevertheless, "ordinary" Street legal bikes of that class are not much slower than the race bike we've seen here while streetlegal cars are in another world. So yes, the fastest car on such tracks (F1) is faster than another vehicle (in this case a bike). Not very much of a surprise.

The fact that £5000 to £10,000 bikes are compared to the pinnacle of motorsport shows you how incredible bikes are for the money. I don't know about you but that bike can offer me most the fun and high revving nature of the f1 car as a normal working man. I live in the real world not a fantasy

Motorbike with its comparatively small contact patch has no chance against an F1 car with its super wide and sticky tires, and massive amount of power as well as power/weight plus its aero.

Actually, most of the difference is down to the aerodynamic package which generates ~400N downforce and allows ridiculous cornering speed. Without that, the F1 car would not be that much quicker round a track than the bike. With the aero package the car is about 20 secs a lap faster. If you look at most car v bike track lap times, they're similar when the car has no aero downforce

This S1000RR isn't stock and it still doesn't compare to a F1 car (in acceleration, braking and cornering). Of corse, the Bike is extremely quick and it may even is faster than a F1 car at the start but as soon as the F1 car can build up some grip it is so much faster. You can get extremely good acceleration performance on a bike, but you're still much slower than a F1 car...
