I'm French, but I'm open to all brands, driving around 100.000km/year as salesrep in Europe. My company cars are either German (BMW, Audi) or french (Peugeot, Renault), always Diesel engines - 2 years or maximum 180.000km - so you can judge the cars very fast with real facts. Until now I only drove station wagons; now I'm waiting for my first SUV - a 5008 GT Line To be honest, I can only say positive thinks about Peugeot - I drove a 407 and 2 508, only a small issue on the 407, that was it. What I appreciate with Peugeot, is that I never open the Hood, as there is no oil consumption at all - for german cars, especially from VAG group the oil consumption is huge with TDI engines (7liters/30.000Km with the latest Passat 120HP Tdi; 4liters with my current Audi 150HP Tdi) The worst car I had was a Laguna 2 Renault with plenty of failures, but I had the same issues with a BMW 316D E91, including rost after 2years ! And I had then 5 times the same Laguna model without any problem So, you just have to be Lucky...with my experience French cars are as realiable as German ones, but cheaper and better equiped (btw, there were no cup holders at all in the whole car with BMW in Business Line edition !) My current Audi A4 has a very noisy Dashboard - since the beginning, never fixed by Audi. And the automatic gearbox DSG7 is at the end of it lifetime, jumping from D to M all the time - hope it will hold until I have my 5008 My wife drives already the 3008 Gt Line and it's an awesome car

The older B5.5 Passat PD Tdi never touched a drop of oil from my experience, I had a Vauxhall Astra MKII, I drove it til 190,000 miles *until the bodywork rusted, typical UK Vauxhall!) and it was an amazing car for me. Next was another Vuahall Estate with an Isuzu engine, those early Laguna's were a pain in the ass according to a friend who had one. I've kept my Passat 16 years (ex company car) but now looking for a used 5008, how has your experience been with it?

I live in the US so I can't buy a Peugeot which really disappoints me. They make very competent cars. I have a feeling that the 5008 could hold its own against the Pilot or Highlander. The third row is a little funky, but, if you genuinely need three rows, you buy a full size SUV like the Ford Expedition or a minivan like the Honda Odyssey instead of a midsize crossover. Peugeot's have a lot of good tech for a relatively low price, a lot of tech that is only available in a Mercedes or BMW

The running cost of an Expedition/Odyssey is massive compared to the Peugeot, and the Pug drives like a car, the other two don't and are cumbersome. Anyways how often do folk actually transport 7 adults and all their luggage anyways, not that often.

yeah, tbh practical stuff like can you fit two bikes in the boot with luggage so you don't have to stick the bikes outside would have been more useful/ Also, how does it drive with 7 people plus some stuff, would the 1.6 turbo be as nippy as she says when fully loaded!

If it was Japanese or Korean and therefore had some sort of resale value in Australia? This may be a decent car, but Peugeot has done a lot of damage to its reputation in the last 15 years or so, selling unreliable poorly built crap.

At $45K for the base model.... Mazda CX9 is way better option, more spacious inside/out, better looking, more reliable, fun to drive, more resale value and feel like a car not space ship ;(
