I was hoping so much that the Rumion would launch with Toyota's awesome 1.5 liter, 3 cylinder full hybrid power-plant. Would have made this Ertiga twin from the Toyota stable a lot more sensible. Someday it might get this engine but had it happened during its launch, would have made it very exciting. Toyota hybrids are very sophisticated. Maruti is having trouble servicing that engine in their Grand Vitara. Honestly, that power plant is best left to Toyota. One less cylinder and 7% less taxes for the hybrid means a hybrid Rumion can be offered for less than a lakh addon cost. Then there are touches like 60/40 front row seating & dashboard mounted gear-selector that could have added flavour to the MPV concept. What a missed opportunity.

Now, Toyota lacks the same safety and build quality as before. The after-sales services are very poor, and the maintenance cost is very high. Every time there are some issues with my Fortuner, it ends up spending more time at the service center. Both are essentially the same car, only the logo and name are changed: Suzuki Baleno -> Toyota Glanza.
