2024 Hyundai Elantra SEL | Best Compact Sedan Under $25k?!

In this video I show you the 2024 Hyundai Elantra SEL finished in Fluid Metal Gray with the black cloth interior. The 2024 Elantra is a refresh with new exterior design, updated packaging and features, and new colors for the lineup. Pricing did increase across the board with the SEL having the biggest but even with the increase, the SEL remains a strong value coming in less than $25,000. If you're looking to spend a little more, the SEL Convenience remains one of my favorite but it's hard to argue with what the Limited offers for around $29,000. Just leased a new 2024 SEL last week. Coming from a white 2021 SEL, I personally like the new 2024 refresh...but not on white. To me, the new lower rear black area is a bit too large overall when contrasted with lighter body colors, so I went with Amazon Grey and grey interior. The darker grey blends nicely with the large black rear area, as well as the black grille area, and overall looks very elegant. The Amazon grey stands out on its own but blends with the black grille and rear area. After looking at white, red, black, blue, ecotonic grey, and silver on the dealer lot, when I saw the Amazon Grey Pearl, overall it stood out from the others. But naturally it's all personal!

Me, my wife, and my son all had Ford F150s. (I know). We just went to all Hyundai. I have the Sonata N Line. My wife has the Santa Fe Calligraphy. I bought my son the Elantra SEL.

Definitely a polarizing look. I am getting used to it but the long term reliability on the Korean cars is a concern. I know 2 friends that have 8-9 year sonatas. They had to replace the engine with way less than 100,000 miles. That does not happen with honda and Toyota. The price and all of the features make it worth a test drive

Oh yes. One of those is my niece. 2013 sonata. Engine blew with drastic oil consumption. She has a new engine fortunately they covered it. Happened this past summer

I prefer the Forte. It has a smoother interior feel. The seats are half leather half cloth very cool. The car itself is similar to mercedes interior. Its very clean and 100% sporty. The Elantra kinda gives a long roach look. And well the only thing good on Elantra is the dash board appearance and parking assist.

There is no tech package on the Elantra in the US. This is the standard SEL. The SEL Convenience is the next step up.

Exactly, and it's all about Hyundai's intentional marketing. In order to get heated seats, heated outside mirrors, leather covered steering wheel/shift knob and wireless charging, you have to go up to the convenience package which also now includes sunroof, etc at a significantly higher price than the standard SEL. In the simplest of terms, it's sort of like manufacturers packaging three screws in a package, knowing you have to buy another package in order to get four.

I assume you have to be standing near the car with the fob in order to so easily open the trunk?!

The car either needs to be unlocked or have the key fob on your person (when car is locked) to open with the button on the outside. You can also use the Smart Trunk function when locked and you approach or the button on the fob to open the trunk.

That is a weak engine and will likely feel sluggish, especially if you have a few people in it and a full tank of gas. Over 9 seconds 0-60 with one person in it. My 2003 Miata has 141 hp and it's a bit lighter. Although I was surprised at this Elantra's curb weight, it's under 3k without fuel and transmission fluid. :) At wheel HP on this car is likely only around 100 or so HP

The CVT makes up for some of the engine output. I am actually surprised that acceleration feels more than adequate in most situations.
