17:44 - CAT6 you want to push it in as far as possible. You really want to maintain the twist all the way to the connection point. When I terminate cat6 the casing is basically all the way up to the pins.

THIS!!! Please…where do I find this? What’s this system called? I’ve put those little wires in specific order, pushed them in, but my “clear bit” doesn’t allow the wires to come out - and then my crimper looks like a bizarre wrench. This system is DUMMY PROOF… I have toned out (new term for me) repeatedly until I give up…no pun intended - I TONE out.

Hi, at around 18:20 mark you didn’t put the weathershield ring before you terminate it so when you connect them together you can lock them? I also tape it after with self amalgamating rubber tape for extra seal likewise I go round once or twice on the junction box seal too. And I also seal the hole inside the junction with silicone sealant where the cable pass through once I get the correct length I needed inside the junction box.

Why did you not use a weather tight connection to the outdoor camera? It creates a water tight seal and prevents corrosion. The camera mount has openings which expose the connection to the elements. Doing this will drastically extend the life of the cameras.

@Sergio Nunez You must have one RJ45 cable routed from each camera to the NVR so an audio/video feed is supplied. An alternative with ReoLink is to use wireless cameras for locations you don't want to run ethernet cable.

As I see this is about a year old, have you been faced with lightening nearby causing the system to crash and reboot. I am near the capital of lightening here in the US and experienced originally lightening knocking out the cameras so that they needed to be replaced. I replaced the electrical box with a plastic one and that eliminated that issue. Now I have a 16 unit NVR that lightening knocking the whole unit even though it's on UPS. boxes for this are connected to metal eve's and I think this is providing a ground that may be feeding back through the system to have it trip.

@carsonmtech
@carsonmtech 3 жыл бұрын
No, that’s unfortunately not possible. I thought that 20fps was crazy as a video creator myself until you realize how much more data a 30fps stream over a 1 hour timeframe at 4K resolution can add to the hard drive. I really don’t think you’ll be disappointed with the 20fps. I wasn’t! I’m still not. It gives you enough that you can surely capture a frame of a license plate or a person’s face when necessary.

Specs on bullet and dome cameras are the same, it's a matter of preference. Silicone is not necessary, but the included weather-tight connectors should be installed before crimping on the RJ45 connector to ensure the connection is as sealed as the camera.

I’m a little unclear on the connection to a network system. I assume since this can operate without an internet connection the cameras are getting POE power from being plugged into the NVR. Does the network system require a powered switch? I’m planning a network setup in addition to the security system. Just don’t understand if I need to purchase a POE switch for my network cabinet. I’m new and just learning about network setup.
@carsonmtech
@carsonmtech 3 жыл бұрын
Nope! Here is how it goes: - Cameras plug into POE NVR ethernet ports - NVR itself can plug into your network via any ethernet port on your network. i.e., it does not need a POE connection to your network since it is powered by its own external power supply and does not require power over an ethernet line TL;DR: You can plug the NVR into a regular non-POE switch, but you cannot plug the cameras themselves into regular switch.

@carsonmtech
@carsonmtech 3 жыл бұрын
None really it’s purely a style thing and which you prefer. Bullet cameras are generally slightly cheaper so if you need to save money, you might by going with them over domes. The downsides of bullet cameras is it’s easier to tell where the camera is pointing at so if you don’t someone to tell that, then a dome may be the better option. Otherwise the Reolink domes and bullets are the exact same!

This is a great video. On the off-chance someone sees this comment that would know the answer, are you able to connect any other wired/wireless camera to this system? Like a doorbell camera for instance, I looked around and it doesn't look like Reolink makes one.
