Abit heavier than the ep3 but has shorter gearing, more mid range power, lower vtec point, and usually then dyno around 10 hp more than the stated figure. I’ve owned both an fn2 and ep3 and I prefer the fn2.

Just stumbled across this video. I bought a Deep Sapphire Blue FN2 3 weeks ago and love it. I was a bit skeptical having owned an EP3 before but after 3 weeks I've changed my mind now. I find the FN2 a much better car to live with on a day to day basis and comes some creature comforts like dual zone AC, auto wipers, auto HID headlamps, aux and USB connectivity, cruise control and reverse parking sensors. My only minor gripe is that mine didn't come with the LSD. Even though its a face-lift, mine was built in February 2010 and its only the champ white ones and any car built after April 2010 that came with the LSD standard from factory. With regards to how rare the colour is, the number that were sold in Europe was 115, with 66 of them being sold in the UK. The colour was only available as an option for 1 year before being discontinued. This information was confirmed by Honda UK when I contacted them to go over the service history and enquire about any outstanding recall work.

From what i understand, all the critics and haters' review on the FN2 mostly in 2007-2009 would hate how the car drives which is understandable because early production except championship white does not come an LSD, but one with an LSD feels completely different. Driven both FN2, one with LSD and one without. massive difference. I have both Fd2 and FN2 and I'd say the FD2 is more fun but i won't say a lot lot more, however, consider the price point here. FN2 is an amazing car for its price. Back when the DC5 came out, i remember people been saying it's not a type R compared to the dc2, no cars are perfect. Driven a Ep3 for a month as my friend was away and i took care of it. imo.. Ep3 is just lighter thats it, suspension wise, u won't feel the difference unless yr hitting 100kmh in tight corners. they are all just as fun when u tune and modify them. If you buy a Type R and not tune and mod it, sell it. Driven both fk8 and FL5 too. FL5 feels slower and less torque maybe cuz its heavier. Imagine if fk8 and FL5 are produce in 2001-2009 era. People would trash the FL5 because every engineering aspect is not that far off. same concept as the Ep3 and FN2.

I owned a 2010 FN2 as my daily car until it was written off (not my fault) a few weeks ago. I loved it but really never appreciated how well everything was put together for the driver until i've had to go looking for another car. The clutch was perfectly positioned and with a really low bite. Most people think that driving one of these would teach you lots of bad habits as if you were just ragging it around all day, but i think the opposite is true; you learn much better control with these clutches (even though mine squeaked a bit) and have to change gears more accurately if you want a smoother ride..... or you could just leave in it 2nd and drive around in vtec all day lol. Much prefer VTEC to turbo too. Tempted to just buy another one.
@traceurGeorge2 жыл бұрын
2 years on and what did you do? I’m really really keen on getting a type r, looking at one for about 5.5k, which isn’t too bad, have seen nicer ones go for cheaper. I’m buying the car as a daily driver rhat I can have fun in too, I don’t have much of a long commute at all, but can’t help telling myself I’ll regret it for the poor mpg - something that shouldn’t be an issue with a hot hatch I know, but is it really as bad as I’ve been told about?
@design-dwg57852 жыл бұрын
@@traceurGeorge What did i do? I had a baby and had to buy a sensible car with 5 doors..... and I absolutely hate it lol. I seriously considered getting another FN2 as a second car because you can get them so cheap now but after the last 2 years of not really having to drive anywhere, I couldn't justify it. If I didn't have a kid I think i'd get another one to be honest. Yes, it's fun to drive but it's also really good value for what it is, good building quality, massive boot space and i just love the way it looks. Plus, they have good reputations for reliability generally so buying an older one for a cheap price is less risky as long as it's from a dealer. MPG isn't great but in reality we're just talking about filling up a bit more regularly. For comparison; my work at the time was about 30 miles across London everyday so 60 miles per day everyday minimum. Generally i would have a full tank on Monday morning and then have to fill up on Friday after work every week. In a average car i'd probably get another day out of it....... but then that would mean I'd be driving a crap car that i couldn't car less about and i'd be miserable. Unless you're burning around in V-Tec all day then, personally, i didn't think it was THAT bad. What i actually really HATED was the road tax - used to cost me £285 a year and it'd probably be more now!
@traceurGeorge2 жыл бұрын
@@design-dwg5785 ah cheers for the reply mate, congratulations on the baby too. You're right about the commute difference, a days less fuel cost with a car that is less enjoyable to drive is a very good point. I guess I've got the usual anxiety of buying a new car! Cheers
@design-dwg57852 жыл бұрын
@@traceurGeorge There's also another point that I forgot to mention: compliments from random strangers. I know it shouldn't be something to be bothered about......... but it kind of feels good for the ego lol. Sure, it's not a Porsche or a Ferrari and you're not going to get Instagram models throwing themselves at you everytime you drive to Tesco, but when I had mine I had a surprising amount of random people (all blokes) coming up to me in car parks and saying "sick car dude" - and mine was basically a stock red 2010 CTR. I'm not a petrol head but I think there's something of a "Honda club" and it's kind of nice that people actually go out of their way to say nice things about your car. I even remember getting into a 10 minute conversation with the postman about it because he loved his FN2 and just wanted to share. You don't get that with a Ford Focus. Basically, just get one before you have kids mate!
@traceurGeorge2 жыл бұрын
@@design-dwg5785 hahaha yeah believe me I plan to, but their price has sky rocketed some in the last year or so. Plenty of car garages, milking every penny they can out of what they're selling. Additionally, a huge amount on the market with poor service history and even worse MOT checks! Cheers

Kept the FN2 for 3 years and then went over to an Astra J VXR.. and it's true.. before owning a turbo you gotta drive a NA.. And if I am honest, I do prefer a NA to turbo.. much more of a drivers car.. but I do miss my revs and vetec...

I have a late fn2 with the lsd and I have too say I am impressed. It handles very well indeed despite claims they dont and it might not be the fastest but it's far from slow and these things are usually mega reliable. I have had a Mégane r26 230, bmw m135i, astra vxr, focus st 2.5 and I can tell you the civic is easily the most fun, cheapest too run and easily the most reliable. These days we are spolied with 300 bhp hatches and obviously cars like the fn2 won't ever complete in a straight line but take my word for it, get one, map it and do a few breathing mods and you will be very surprised how quick it is.

That’s a great car, too, for different reasons. I have just bought a 17 plate, blind, cos that’s the way cars are bought at the moment. I can’t fault it, it’s that good and 69mpg, but has a fair bit of torque. I said I’d never get a diesel, but this one is the exception to the rule. I think the Fn3 is really underrated.

That is a very good review. You clearly know about driving dynamics and how to assess a car's characteristics. I find the Type R an extremely good drivers car with a massive feel good factor mainly because of the amazing steering feel, handling and grip levels on decent rubber. The torque is disappointing but if you are prepared to drive it like a 2 stroke motorcycle and ride the power band then its fairly rapid. No need for 600 bhp these days.

Why do car reviewers insist on ruining thier videos with shit music? 🙄🙄

I agree this wasn't a great choice of music. But it was 3 years ago and I have changed my style since then :) Thanks for watching!

bollocks, you cannot get mid 40s in these on the motorway :p
@MrDirkles5 жыл бұрын
Well according to the trip computer you can but i'm not sure how accurate that is. Typically i get 33 mpg and a few miles less in winter. On a straight run at 60 mph with just me in the car i've had 47 mpg over a 100 mile trip. Before my fn2 i had a 1.8 petrol focus. The fn2 uses less petrol than that bloody thing doing the same journey.

agreed MY FN1 1.8 si 2010 can't get 40mpg motorway. So I doubt a FN2 K20 can.

Dc5 is way better than that fn2 ,
@duncangraham73575 жыл бұрын
All DC5's have been abused and are well dated by now.
@itzzaster5 жыл бұрын
Duncan Graham this is much more dated as a dc5. Also if it is true that dc5s have been abused I can guarantee these have been too.
@80skid834 жыл бұрын
They're dated. But around ep3 era , then yes the dc5 was way more superior
