Watching these British car KZbinr’s buying their ‘dream’ car then selling it again in a few weeks is like watching paint dry. How much longer can they keep doing it? Having 10 + cars in their garage, all of which are funded by finance isn’t sustainable. All their social media is the same. Then you get the ones who every video is a sponsored one... most have wealthy families who no doubt support them. They make out they are living the dream, when really they have nothing to show for it... keep it real Luke... you don’t need flashy cars, your videos are in a totally different world to all the others, who struggle to edit good videos themselves. The days of buying supercars for views is past it sell by date... the ones who are still around in 2/3 years will be the ones who do something else more creative now....

I had a 2015 RS3 ABT for 1 year. I thought they were a bit boring before testing one (most probably because of the look) but it ended up being the most fun car I ever drove ! Pops and bangs all the time, super responsive engine and awesome sounding... Plus, they can be highly tuned and have quattro.

Noooooo! I understand why though. Personally I watch your videos for the cinemaphotography, the views, and the roads, and the gt4 is perfect for that. I’m not really into the KZbinrs who change cars and pose kneeling and pointing with stupid looks on their faces for their thumbnails. Your videos are more professional than that. You just need a good car that is yours, and the ones you get for reviews add enough variation. That’s just me though, and you need to do what you think is right for your channel, and you definitely know better than I do! That said, I don’t know your budget, but an RS6 Avant would be my dream winter car, but it’s also expensive. Or a used E63 wagon. You could also go with a TT.

Not sure if Porsche is the same but when your parked in a tight spot like your garage press and hold the door unlock button on the fob to drop the door windows. Makes it so much easier to get in with the window down. I have to do it with my R8 in my garage every time I get in or out of it. 👍🏻

The bloom sure came off the rose quickly on the 718 GT4 compared to the previous generation. All the compromises like particulate filters, cylinder deactivation, stop-start and a significant price bump make buying a pristine used 981 GT4 the smart play.

I’m sure that I make part of the minority, but personally would love seeing time going by your GT4. I understand that this sort of channels need to grab everyone’s attention, still it can be done by testing car brands or even loaners. Also appreciate your honesty and I’m glad that you have so many bookings ahead. If I was in your shoes I guess I’d try a Macan GTS. It’s perfect for everyday tasks and even more if you live in a harsh winter country. I did it and I’m loving it, despite my model being the diesel.

Luke, I have been a long-term subscriber to your channel and a fan of your content. I also appreciate your honesty on why you want or need to sell the GT4. However, I have seen a lot of KZbinrs following the boring narrative of: 1. This is my absolute dream car 2. Let‘s do loads of modifications to make it even better 3. Now it‘s perfect 4. Why I‘m selling it. It just leaves me with the feeling that I can’t expect true passion and authenticity on this channel anymore. I will stay subscribed for the great intros and footage, but I might loose interest in the actual content/your commentary.

First thanks for being a long term subscriber! Maybe I can help you understand it a bit more? One of the really big reasons is (as I said in the video) I live in Switzerland where my GT4 would never work in the winter here. So my question to you is this, do you honestly think it’s better for me never to buy a sports car out of the reason that I would have to sell it at the end of each year as I couldn’t afford to (for now anyway) simply keep it all winter and not make videos with it or do you really not think it’s better to make the most out of life and do what I can when I can for the channel and myself? I really appreciate every subscriber but I think it’s very unfair to compare me to others that have sold and bought 20 odd cars on their channels and I have had 2! It has absolutely nothing to do with passion, I know exactly how much passion I have, this channel was made on that, it’s facts and real life, these things cost a lot of money and need to pay for themselves which in my world anyway can’t do whilst living in a country that is full of snow all winter. I want a car I can use for myself and the channel not to have one sitting in the garage for 6 months. My next Porsche dream will come again next Spring hopefully. Anyway I hope that helps somewhat to understand and maybe keeps you subscribed for a few more weeks ;-)

Cars with Luke Thanks for the answer, the additional context and your honesty. For me as a viewer your GT4 story felt like a long journey that started two years ago when you drove the 981 GT4. From a viewers perspective the abrupt end came as a total surprise. It would have felt different if you had said from the beginning that you might only keep it for six months. You seem to have valid reasons for your decision. What I‘m just trying to say is that those reasons are difficult to comprehend for some viewers and therefore might feel fake: 1. That winters in Switzerland are snowy should not come as a surprise to anyone. 2. Sportscars and snow are obviously not the best combination, however you have done many great videos with sportscars in winter/snowy condition. Why would a GT4 not work for content production in winter but a GT3, an Alpine, a Ferrari Spider would? Anyway, keep producing great content and if you stay as honest with viewers as you have been in this video, you will keep a very loyal fanbase. Looking forward to your next chapter. Thanks!

For your next tuner project car how about a Quattro Audi. Perhaps a B8 S4? The supercharger will compensate for the low atmospheric pressure. Golf R or Audi S3 could be fun too. Basically something all wheel drive and turbo or supercharged.

Not born into money, don't have a huge channel, SARS CoV-2 took away funds that would have been there, and not much opertunity for money for content over winter, unless you have money ship it to a warm climate with lots of money making content. Future daily: 991.1 C4S with an aftermarket exhaust, such as AWE. Naturally aspirated, all wheel drive, put some snow tires on and it will crush it in the winter. Sounds incredible. Not the fastest but who cares when it drives the way it does.

What you are looking for is an Audi TTRS 8S pre-Facelift (no OPF)! I got one as a winter car. It ticks all the boxes you mentioned! And I completely understand your approach. You are not a collector, you work with your cars and you can't stick to one car forever. Hope you get a good return on your GT4. Kudos for your honest comments. BTW: are you selling the JCR? :D

I’m torn between the sneak peak being a 964 RS or a 959. Either way it’s going to be magic to drive and would love to be in your shoes. I sat in a 959 years back during an interview, and I couldn’t stop grinning like a child. 🤣 Very sad to hear you’re selling the GT4 so soon. If I ever decide to let my M2C go, that’s the car I’ll have my sights on. Good luck with your projects. Glad to hear work is picking back up! 👍🏻

Cars with Luke well, I am planning to make a trip down to Switzerland in a few weeks (possibly Furka Pass) before summer is out. Perhaps if your work schedule isn’t too packed, we could make that happen (no silly OPF either). Love your vids. Keep up the amazing work. 👍🏻

Sad to see the 718 GT4 go but would love to see something rare & usable on a daily basis even in the snow (so AWD basically). Something like a Tommi Makinen Mitsubishi Evo 6.5 RS (SAMMIT also just bought one) or maybe a Subaru WRX STI S-Series (S204, S205, S206, S207, etc). If we're going completely opposite from winter, a Honda S2000 (can be modified to Spoon Sports or J's Racing, etc).

For a Swiss winter? maybe an old RS2 Avant or if you're looking for something more modern/sounds better, maybe an RS6!!

I guess a RS3 could be a nice option because of the very unique 5 cylinder engine and of course the Quattro drivetrain which helps you getting up everywhere. Realistically up everywhere on streets during wintertime 😄

that gearing man. it's a deal breaker on what is otherwise a perfect car. tbh I feel like I'd have more fun on public roads in a m2 or something than a gt4 just because of how high the meat and potatoes are in the rev range
