I watched this live, and I have never seen such a violent crash, the sense of shock stayed with me for a long time. Greg seemed such a nice guy, and a very talented driver, a great shame.

Ive never seen what happened when the car first broke lose, did you see him lose the car?

@@MrMiD.Life.Crisis From what I remember it started as a normal lose it off the turn slide, it only turned nasty when the car went across the service road and rolled.

@@stevecavell4479 aaha thank you very much. I'd never seen Hearns wreck either until watching these videos and the similarity of where (and how) they went off yet the difference in outcome is crazy. Obviously I'm not wishing bad on Hearn! Those dayumn access roads thru grass, they've caused some carnage. Also I've just watched nascarallout's video on Darrell Waltrip wrecking at daytona from 1991 and (if you havent seen it) he had a very similar problem, fortunately he didn't hit anything solid. Such a shame about Greg, i wouldve loved to see what he did in a Penske car. Anyway, thanks for that, I hope you're good.

It was such a relief that Richie Hearns is still alive and wellish. But felt completely horrible with Greg.

Greg was an amazing driver and a really good guy. It's such a huge loss for the sport, even now and of course I feel for his family. I heard someone say that he should not of driven that day because of his hand/wrist being messed up. The fact is it was his last race for the team that did so much for him, he wanted to go out on a high for them. I admire him wanting to do that when some drivers would've sat out. I don't know if his injuries from before the race had anything to do with the wreck. Also has anyone seen the start of this wreck? I've only ever seen the end of it. The combination of grass and access roads down past the apron caused so many cars to flip. Have they got rid of the grass on all the big speedways now? And finally, if Greg had driven for Penske I really think he would've ended up as one of the very best. Rip.

The only way to imagine Greg Moore's entire crash is if you watch the previous spin but Greg's car didn't spin back around and got caught in the grass which made him flip.

@@BigBoshV yeh I remember them saying that the skid marks were in almost the same spot. such a loss. all that said, hope you're good today 👍

Funny about the Richie Hearn interview, and talking about him coming back the following year (2000), when in reality it turned out to be his last ever race in CART/Champ Car...

Cuz he sucked lol. He’s a drunk loser that went no where. He did the same thing at his job in Vegas with a little kid in 2009. Spun out trying to drift. He’s a clown.

At 15 seconds the zoom shot shows both cars did exactly the same thing only a few feet apart. And you can see where they crossed that infield road. about 3 foot apart. Riche's car stayed on the ground. Greggs flipped. It really is a game of inches.

I still don't completely understand how he ended up in the wall like that. I wish there was an animation that shows what exactly happened.
@marchewitson61913 жыл бұрын
I think the car hit a bump where the access road goes thru the grass, the grass was higher than the road creating a ramp that tossed the car into the air.
