I became disabled and retired early while my wife is still working. I love cruising more than my wife and easier when solo because of my disabilities. But I'm on a tight budget and excursions are expensive. I will be visiting Cartagena Colombia in a few weeks where I expect to take a taxi to old town and look for a cigar lounge. It's my understanding that cabbies will ask for $20 but Uber costs about $7 and cabbies will bring down their rates when you point this out. I expect $10 is a good compromise. Nice video. Very helpful.

Hii Im from Sydney~ Going to Princess cruise next year to Cartagena too…… ur video is so helpful 👍 May I ask how much will be the taxi to the old town from the port ? And is it the traffic really bad there ?

Hi. I’m so excited for you! It is such a beautiful port. The traffic was reasonable. The wait for the HOHO bus was longer than the actual drive. It’s less than 10km between the port and old town. I believe it was around the US$10 mark. It was definitely cheaper than the HOGO bus. Looking at Uber atm it says 25K COP which is roughly AUD$10.

Are you also going to Mazatlan? We have a port stop video coming out next week with similar info on what we did.

Do taxis take VISA cards? Do you need Colombian pesos? Do vendors take credit cards?

Hi! We didn’t use the taxi this trip as we’d bought the HOHO bus through the ship. Looking online there’s info that some do and some don’t. Check this link. www.welcomepickups.com/cartagena/taxi/#:~:text=Some%20taxis%20in%20Cartagena%20accept,tariff%20before%20starting%20your%20journey. Sorry we can’t give you our own experience. Enjoy your trip.
