this ride was in fact two rides put together back to back the original version used to tilt as well, one half of this ride was once owned and travelled by my father and his brother (william and james chipperfield respectively), later gracing their amusement park in weymouth, each car had the name venture on the side, its nice to see it so well preserved and still operating today!

Thanks for posting that! I've never had the nerve (or stomach) to ride it, but I always felt that it was the most "graceful" of rides. An aerial ballet.

I used to stretch my legs out and dig my heels down on this ride. Full force strain, from arms holding that bar at front You sat on a low, flat seat with just a lap belt across you. Then off you went. This ride always sticks in my mind as one of the scariest. It was familiar at the travelling fair in 80's. I last went on this in mid 90's (Cambridgeshire) just to experience it again, as I had not seen one for so long. Bring it back. Imagine getting stuck on this when facing the ground.

They used to have these at Hull fair in the 70's, and when you're a small boy it seems like the scariest ride in the world. It now looks rather timid compared to the hi-tech rides nowadays. There was an accident in Hull once and the Dive Bombers were banned from Hull Fair after that.

Fifty years ago there was one in Margate, England, which was able to change its plane of rotation mid-ride so as to circle horizontally for a spell, before returning to vertical once again.

i was on this ride and the saftey belt didn't fit me! SO i had to hold onto the bar for dear life and i was coming out of my seat and almost hitting my head on the roof!AND i hit my ankle on a metal bar there for the footrest and idk what i did to it but it seriously hurt all of this in year 7 in a secondary school! Also did i mention i got put in the cart alone and two only people were at the back of me
