You have to give it the works. The death of SAAB was a crime in itself. They were one of them companies who didn't give a F about the cost as long as they were making an innovative, safe and all round damn good car. I hope that they can some how spring back from the dead one day.

@@chrispalmer5537 that's how they died. They basically made a vauxhall insignia into the SAAB 9-5 and threw more money at it than they could recoup from sales. The car was truly amazing for the time though.

Actually it's fine Saab died. It was GM that couldn't handle the Swedish. I'm a big Saab guy only drives Saab. Because they are amazing. But the newer Saab models 9-3 is not much Saab. IST 50/50 Opel and Saab. Ist still better than most cars. But not great. And if GM would down the cost more as they wanted. The Saab are just turning into a Opel. And then it will just be rubbish. I'm fine for the rest of my life there are so many great old saab's out there for the rest of my life. So no worries here. And old Volvo is also alright.

So glad to see this 9-3 again. When my trusty (not) first car ('06 Corsa) was written off this winter by someone who doesnt understand ice, I was able to buy myself an' 04 9-3 convertible with the payout, and i credit this £500 hero with convincing me to make that mad decision. I'm so glad i did, i didn't realise at the time it would do this, but driving a car I truly care about, that makes every trip feel that little bit special, has pulled me out of a 3 year depressive cycle, given me such a confidence boost, and consequently given me the drive to get out of a dead end job and get into a job im excited about, with a 50% raise to boot. So thank you SAAB, and thank you Car Throttle, truly.

I bought one as an "emergency" purchase after a crash. Ended up keeping it for 3 years as it was a cracking car and sold it to a mate who is still using it as his daily 😁 Bought a second one off another friend for scrap money as a spares car. Ended up tarting it up, put a MOT on it and sold it to a third mate! Bought it back off him 18 months later (again as a spares car) then sold it to the first mate as a spares car 🤣 Massively underrated and unfairly tarnished with the "Vectra with a Saab badge" image. Seem to be getting thinner on the ground all of a sudden and it's great to see someone looking after them!

Great to see a company looking after these motors, they're going to be very very rare real soon, and they pretty much are already. What a shame that Saab's motoring arm folded and in 2022 it's China who's getting all the money and custom. Saab's were unique and paid some serious homage to their aircraft design and engineering. Full restore for sure. Considering Alex and Ethan got rid of their cars from that challenge within 3 months, and Jack has kept this for 2 years, I think its worthy of it. He keeps saying how much he enjoys it and it'd be a waste to bin it for laughs. Make it a series with Sam in on it, like Adam from Volkstechniks with the 3 Series Compact. Then a road trip to Sweden for a Saab/Scania meet. Would love to see your take on their back catalogue, cars and trucks, and some conversations with passionate owners...especially regarding some of the vehicles' oddball features. I've loved seeing glimpses of this Saab in the background of shots during the last 2 years, its been one of my fave cars you guys have had on the channel and just knowing it was still soldiering on in faithful service is one of those little things that added to your videos Enjoy it so much so, when I needed to buy my first car, I went looking for one (they're spenny out here, $25k for one with over 200,000km on the clock).

I love that he mentioned that Saab put the key in the center because peoples knees kept turning off the car, I literally had my Saab 9-5 turned of 4 times in 2 years by the passenger because the key was in the center. Plus it scratched up the console so much. I will say, any A/C or heat related seems to be ridiculous when it comes to blend door at least, it is a full dash removal. I kinda wish a place like this was available, as my Saab was amazing minus the A/C and heat system which no1 would do for a decent price. The funny thing is, the platform of the 159 was actually engineered with a possible RWD layout in mind, with longitudinal engines up to V8s. (Besides the common FWD/AWD setup with tranverse engines). Examples of this plan being the 2002 Brera concept or the Insignia concept from 2003... But GM cheaped out and didn't want to use this rather expensive platform from FIAT for their bigger Cadillac/Opel/Vauxhall/Saab models as it was inteded. So only the FWD version made it to production and all these shenanigans just ended up making the 159, Brera and Spider unncessarily heavy with rather tight interiors - for their class. Despite these shortcomings the 159 still remains an absolute timeless piece of automotive design. Back in the day I ended up buying a YS3F, because the Alfa had no properly nice petrol engines - when the SAAB had an all new turbo petrol.

@@shieldmaiden1248 FWD beats RWD in economics, safety and weight. But I get what you mean! That 4wd Saab they saw in the yard of this video I would love to see restored and turbo'ed to hell and back

I got my 2004 93 aero for £500 5 years ago. 50.000 miles later it's still going strong. Had to change the alternator twice though and the radio only works sometimes and the front windows don't go down and the ac has stopped working. It has a warning on the dash that both brake lights have failed even though they work fine. The aerial on the roof has dropped off and the laquer is peeling off. It passed it's last mot with no advisory's . Love that car so much I've ordered a replacement aerial.

I would love to see this car in mint condition again and then maybe a scandinavian roadtrip?

Technically Saab owners are most intelligent people on the roads 🤔. Get it fixed Jack

Jack is great in this! And the Saab guy is hilarious! So dry and sarcastic.😂
