I feel like it's unfair to expect society to change and adapt to someone's personal mental health issues, like gender dysphoria. Most people live in a world where male and female are clearly defined by biology, and that’s just how it is. While everyone deserves respect and kindness, asking society to completely redefine something as basic as gender seems a bit much. We have shared norms that help things run smoothly, and changing those for individual experiences can cause confusion.

3:32 im very pro-trans but i understand how people can just look at there being a seperation of men and womens sports in the first place and seeing trans women going in womens sports and thinking 'wait thats not fair' automatically and wanting a completley different league. i think it is a lot more complicated than that though, and at least from studies and articles ive read i think it makes more sense to allowed trans women in womens sports (and trans men in mens sports for that matter, though no one ever talks about that lol) than not to. for one, if they have taken hormones for enough time where the differences hormonally and biologically are so minimal they can be essentially negligible (typically around 1-2 years which is very common), it makes sense they should be allowed. these restrictions are often already in place for most competitive sports. even then talking about things like "trans women have a biological advantage over afab women so they shouldnt be allowed in womens sports" doesn't make much sense because alot of already top athletes have their own biological advantages that no one has ever made a fuss about (ex, michael phelps being double jointed, having abnormally large lung capacity, and producing less lactic acid). on top of that, the vast majority of media coverage on trans women in womens sports is heavily overblown (likely due to stories like it being an easy way to cause an outrage and that is good for stories lol). there are plenty of examples of trans women winning sports of course, but if you look at it statistically, a little less than 1% of women competing in womens sports are trans women. guess what percentage of winners in womens sports are trans women? a little less than 1%. so it is quite literally exactly equal. even then, most of the notable trans women winners in sports have been beaten by cis women and trans men before multiple times. for example, probably the most infamous example of a trans women in sports, lia thomas, has been beaten by cis women and even a trans man not on hormones before. (it is worth mentioning the type of sport being played plays a heavy role in how muscle mass/testosterone levels/bone density effects performance, however no matter what sport a trans woman has won in i can almost guarantee you you can find examples of them being beaten by a cis woman or trans man before.) disallowing trans women in womens sports is very bad for cis women as well. most obviously, if you make trans people compete in the groups of their birth sex... trans men would be forced to compete against cis women, and there 100% is an advantage for trans men who have taken testosterone against cis women. also if trans people are restricted, which has happened before, they will often implement 'sex checks', which has happened before. these include often very invasive techniques of 'examining an athletes body'. these techniques often result in the complete exclusion of intersex individuals and other individuals with chromosomal disorders despite them not being transgender. there have also been cases of mass harassment campaigns on cis women who won sporting events, most recently Imane Khelif who was harassed by quite literally tens of thousands of people, both on the internet and real life, over her winning an olympic boxing event over claims of her being trans (despite her being transgender women.) I have also seen examples in school events where literal children were accused of being transgender for, not even winning, but beating out other students in general. with all of this in mind, i believe the insane focus on trans people in sports i believe is driven not by a need for integrity for sports, but instead by transphobia. (not calling you transphobic, i mean the people that push these narratives about trans women having these absurd biological advantages knowing full well they are misleading) i think i should also note that there has NEVER, not a single time, ever been a documented case of a cisgender man pretending to be a trans women to get into womens sports. with how much that claim is brought up, i assumed that it probably happened at least once in an outlier incident, but no, a cisgender man pretending to be a trans woman to get into womens sports has quite literally NEVER been documented happening (despite there being a whole south park episode about it). the conclusion of a study that was part of my research on this, (Sex differences and athletic performance. Where do trans individuals fit into sports and athletics based on current research? By D.J. Oberlin), i think puts a lot of what i am trying to say into words very well; "Individuals should not have to make a choice between being their authentic selves or being athletes (138). While trans athletes competing in various sports and athletic events raises interesting considerations of how certain morphologic and physiologic factors affect performance, these questions are not exclusive to trans individuals. There are wide variations within cisgender populations, even when excluding individuals with differences in sexual development (121, 139). It is expected that about 2.3% of a normally distributed population is likely to fall above two standard deviations from a population mean. These exceptional individuals may be those who are gifted and excel at some sport or athletic performance (121, 135, 140). In contrast only 0.5%-0.6% of the population identify as trans (60). There is no concern for restricting individuals who are exceptionally large or small, those who are genetically gifted, or those with differing hormone concentrations or muscle mass, so long as their gender and biologic sex align (120, 121). The disproportionate focus on the relatively small portion of the population who are trans seems based on the belief that cis men, who cannot succeed in sports among other cis men, would choose to misidentify as trans women to gain an advantage in sports against cis women. However, there are no legitimate cases of this occurring. An individual's sex does not determine their success or failure at any athletic event despite the high level of competition. This can be demonstrated when looking at not average outcomes, but the level of overlap among outcomes. The exclusion of trans individuals also insults the skill and athleticism of both cis and trans athletes. While sex differences do develop following puberty, many of the sex differences are reduced, if not erased, over time by gender affirming hormone therapy. Finally, if it is found that trans individuals have advantages in certain athletic events or sports; in those cases, there will still be a question of whether this should be considered unfair, or accepted as another instance of naturally occurring variability seen in athletes already participating in these events." i didnt expect to spend 30 minutes writing this comment about trans people in sports but i got pretty into it 😅i think it is an important discussion that should be have because i think the idea of believing 'completley barring trans women from womens sports with no exceptions is the best course of action' is a trap even some of the most pro-trans people can fall into. great reaction tho, i always love ur reactions and how much u put into reacting lol. pls react to s19e6 tweek x craig, and then s21e2 put it down!!! some of the funniest episodes in the series imo! sources: www.biography.com/athletes/michael-phelp-perfect-body-swimming www.aclu.org/news/lgbtq-rights/four-myths-about-trans-athletes-debunked www.politifact.com/article/2023/jul/13/how-many-trans-people-are-there-in-the-us-and-why/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transgender_people_in_sports www.outsports.com/2022/3/1/22948400/transgender-trans-athlete-championship-national-world-title/ www.thenation.com/article/society/transgender-student-athletes-ncaa-representation/ www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10641525/

also i think its worth noting the reason trans people tend to be so against their own transgender-exclusive league is because they are fighting to be treated the same as a cis person of their gender is, and segregating them into their own league with their own category is pretty much the exact opposite of that. its better than trans women being forced into the mens league and trans men being forced into the womens league, but its far from being seen as equal
