This is insane, this originally was just a fun video spreading the word of some interesting pieces of CN history that I wanted to make, I never expected it would blow up this big. Not that long ago, I end up re-watching a cartoon Network pilot called Longhair and Double Dome. My cousin and I laughed our heads off when watching it back in the day. It was as funny to me now as it was back then, but I still got some laughs out of it remembering how hard we left as kids.

If you're interested in CN pilots/shorts that never became shows, you should check out Welcome To My Life. It's a relatively simple premise, but the execution is very well done. I've never seen a cartoon capture the charming awkwardness of being a teenager in a mockumentary style so well. The animation is also really fucking cool and unique too. If you're into Pillywag's Mansion, you'd probably be into Welcome To My Life

The problem with a lot of the pilots here is that unlike Regular show, Adventure time and a lot of the other pilots that got picked up they don't really seem like they have the option to either branch out or go somewhere with the exception of Danger Planet and AJ's infinite summer.

Big fan of cartoon network but the older 2000s shows like Billy and Mandy and all those other shows were so much better than the new ones that are on Cartoon Network right and the animation and looks were even better and funnier to me. There’s definitely good shows like Teen titans Go and that new looney tunes university show but think Cartoon Network shows could be getting way better or as good or better than the originals, there were so many great older shows

@@shokingu6963 Yeah but the Utica one (despite somehow being better than the two) is more like a chilled out not so edgy regular show. It's not painfully boring like We bare bears or apple and onion but the problem it has is that other than the show there's not really much you can do with the characters without drastically expanding the original concept.

Since you made a list for CN Pilots, how about some for the Nickelodeon Pilots. I still remember and LOVE Rosemary and Kyle. It didn't leave as a cliffhanger and the short ended beautifully, but I would love to have seen the story center around the high school and how different groups interacted with each other, with Rosemary and Kyle having cameos in the background being happy together.

Honestly it feels as if in some parallel universe, these shows would've been picked up. It's quite sad to know that the decades of this 2d style have now gone by and these pilots have just been forgotten by public memories. Some of them could've been great.

Bro I remember loving the Danger Planet pilot when it first released on KZbin, it sucks that it was never picked up. I also remember another CN pilot about Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster and some third guy living in an apartment together, I think it was by the guy who made Regular Show. CN will always be the king of pilots in my opinion, I always liked how they not only appealed to viewers but also felt like a place where upcoming animators can shine! I remember sometime around 2016-2017 I was looking for something to watch on direct tv. There was a section for already downloaded items & for some reason every single one of these pilots was there & available to watch as long as I had Cartoon Network on my plan. I remember watching all these pilots and scoring them based on how much I’d like to see them as a show.

one of my favorite cartoon network pilots is Welcome To My Life, it's so calming and charming to see a Monster go about their life amongst humans, there wasn't much action or drama, it was just something to enjoy. There's so many pilots that I think deserve another chance and this video has some great ones! I loved Danger Planet. Nice video here, surprised you're not at a ton more subs.

Pillywag feels like an odd mixture of Bram Stoker’s Dracula seemingly with the voice of Ryan Reynolds, which was immediately funny to me. If this had been on Adult Swim I would have been wayyy into it! I also love “Gumball” and it feels like Pillywag’s Mansion also fits in that “Home Movies” vibe where it can be watched by kids but has an adult sensibility and humor too.

I remember watching Danger Planet, Aj’s, 3 dog band, and Science Fiction Project, on demand, I really wished they’d got picked up over a lot of other’s shows, Science fiction project reminded me a ton of old 90’s early 2000’s shows on CN, and 3 dog had really fun designs and was based around music which I’m a music guys so, and what’s said about the other two’s been said other than I would’ve preferred AJ’s infinite summer over OK K.O

Wonderfully made video. I've had only the vaguest recollection of Utica Cartoon for only 20 years, it felt like an absolute fever dream. Also, it was WAY closer to 9/11 when it aired; like 2 and a half weeks between the pilot airing and the attacks.

Nickelodeon add something like this called randomness cartoons, and the only reason I know this off the top of my head without having to do research is because they for some reason just started airing reruns early in the morning on nicktoons. That's how I originally saw the OG pilot for adventure Time and bravest warriors

AJ's Infinite Summer seems to have the right brand of Humor and Whimsical Nonsense that would make it popular both with kids AND with adults, which I think is a quality that has been proven recently to be a very valuable and desirable attribute. I don't think cartoon network realizes what an actual gold mine they are sleeping on with that show, it really deserves a second chance.

At first CN literally said NO to Infinity Train. One of if not their BEST Cartoon in recent years, but then decided to cancel the show for A FUCKING TAX CUT WITH THE MERGER OF WARNER BROS AND DISCOVERY. It was a complete bullshit reason and I think after this was the final nail in the coffin which went on to the Iconic Studio CN to be shutdown. Greedy CEOs and Execs that had 0 clue what was best for their companies and more streaming platforms like Netflix decided ANIMATION wasn't good enough even though things like Castlevania and etc. WERE INSANE HIT SHOWS!!!
