Tom is absolutely on point about FF. Xmen is about the characters. FF is about the world. The FF themselves are not as interesting as Wakanda, Attilan, Galacrus and Surfer... Kirby (and Lee) surrounded them with the biggest, deepest, most colorful worldbuilding. Still unequalled... Although Fourth World came close.
