I credit my art school lettering teacher for saving my back and wrist. He taught you to tape the Bristol to a piece of cardboard and ink it that way. So instead of hunching over a drawing board, I tape the comic page to the back of a Masonite drawing board. It sits on my lap. So the movements vary enough that my carpal tunnel eventually went away. My back is still intact. I’m not hunching.

Big fan of Geof Darrow! Sometimes i read the pages too quick because of the rhythm of the story. But I always go back to check the incredible drawings. So much crazy lovely detail! Looking forward to the Artist edition of this last edition of The Shaolin Cowboy! Thanks for the heads up. Besides being this amazing artist he’s also a very friendly guy. A big thank you to Cartoonist Kayfabe for this video! Also loved the Corben vid with Geof :)

It’s always a good night when I fire up the ol’ kayfabe channel and Geof Darrow is on screen. Even just listening to his non-cartooning related anecdotes are entertaining to me. Definitely a legend. I appreciate the tips on avoiding carpel tunnel, too. Maybe there could be a future segment based on that very premise?

Years ago, when Miller and Darrow where doing Hardboiled. I meet them both at a signing. Geoff had some original pages to look at which where amazing and oversized. He was just lost in conversation with one person all the while signing and doing little doodles for everyone who asked.The line was so backed up because he was doing so that Miller was just waiting next to him. I wish I had all this Kayfabe knowledge and history , I would have asked him so many great questions and had real conversation with him. Picked his brain about stuff. Instead I was just to nervous and thank him told him I loved his work and moved on. Geoff and Frank where both very kind.

I love how Geof will create one huge panel that contains as much narrative detail as a Dostoevsky novel, then basically be like "Gosh, it's really nothing. I was going to throw it away, actually". He redefines humility. Thank you guys for giving us another superb video and yet another precious hour of conversation from the man himself.
