I remember watching this series on CBS Channel 2 on Saturday mornings! I wish that this classic animated series should be brought back to television for a new generation of fans who are interested in classic animation shows, like me, who grew up with watching cartoons.

The best of these tales is the ironic, tongue-in-cheek "Man From Pinkerton". For their atmosphere I also like "The Puppet Master" and the one with the Spider Queen -- featuring over-the-top voice acting by Agnes Moorhead -- plus the farcically funny, character-driven "Paddle-wheeling Pirates." It also doesn't get more steampunk than the Ranger's last, gadget-filled duel with Tiny Tom -- after which a defeated Tom decides to go straight! I'm also happy that Tonto was given a number of solo adventures in this series, with his horse Scout, and with Taka playing the role of a sort of on-call personal artillery. Many of these Tonto solos are really good and have Indian-white or tribe-on-tribe tensions as plot devices -- fairly sophisticated content that you wouldn't expect in a 6-minute kid's cartoon.

And I remember fondly this series when this run on cable in the 80’s. It was on a religious channel ironically, and the Family Channel also ran the live-action Clayton Moore series the same time.

This episode is almost certainly pure science fiction, much like such stories as "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" and "The Invisible Man," both of which deal with a similar theme and have a similar result. To quote from the conclusion of the 1933 version of "The Invisible Man," starring the great Claude Rains, "I meddled with things that man must leave alone!"
