Amen to that. I’m a white trash baby (no matter what country I’d have ended up the same I accept that 😂) and yet my favourite superhero growing up was the green lantern jon Stewart and this guy static. It might not be much of an example but to anyone that knows. Well you know. To anyone else I never seen a black man till I was in my teens with my own eyes, I grew up as I said white trash, not racist just I stayed swayed in a trailer and didn’t know much about the world 😂 do now though and I’m grateful this little show was a eloping hand in that. Diversity is one cure for the world. Just saying

Static Shock was and is one of my favorite superhero shows and superheroes of all time. I would love to see a reboot that does the character justice on TV, books, comic books and movies. The problem is the people churning out entertainment today are terrible. Given what they have done to other beloved franchises like Star Wars, Star Trek, Blue Beatle and the flash the idea of what they might do to Static makes my stomach hurt. I do NOT want woke feminist LGBTQ+ "I like to make men uncomfortable" BS artists anywhere near this franchise. As a 1/2 Latino I beg the future writers do not race swap Static and make him 1/2 Latino just to check a box.
@MarvinPowell14 ай бұрын
@malcolm_rising Hell no! They tried to do a Static Shock reboot in the comics and made it a BLM, anti-police origin story. This show was made in a time of _actual_ inclusion and modern woke BS is the polar opposite of that.

Static is something that should be heralded and celebrated as something so far ahead of its time the political and societal issues it covered and representation of minority groups was so advanced what an amazing show
@mal35m10 ай бұрын
It was very well done. It didn't shy away from issues but the focus of the show was on Static himself as a decent human being who was also black in an imperfect world. I don't think we have writers today who could handle that nuance.
@MarvinPowell14 ай бұрын
@cheshire5830 That was done in a time of organic inclusion and acceptance, not today's divisive, hate-filled woke BS that hates everyone from white men, to biological women, to conservative Christians, and all non-Progressives inbetween.

Great recap but one little thing that's gonna bother me if I don't say it. 22:39 before that episode and after the night breed one. (Season 4 episode 6) Gear gets goes missing, Static investigates and finds Hotstreak. They both get kidnapped and end up chained together on an island. After running through the jungle and working together they find a facility run by Alva being used to restore his son using some metas including Gear. They help, unpetrify Alva's son and go home. Alva then promises not to mess with Static or the other metas for that. It's an important episode because (24:03) it's the main reason Alva fires Dr. Roberts. He's still grateful for having his son back and doesn't want to cause them anymore trouble for Static and Gear.

Lol, no, it would not! BP was a once in our lifetime phenomenon. It will never be duplicated because it has already been done. Static Shock meant a lot to YOU. A lot to a very small percentage of people that grew up in it during those years. BP has been around for over 50 years and is a major Marvel character. Static is nowhere close to BP in popularity or cultural impact
@MrYoujordan11 ай бұрын
@@killah_disciple1im a huge marvel fan but before the MCU black panther was super unknown outside of comic books .... sort of like doctor doom is now. Like people know of him and have heard the name but don't understand why the character is so dope. Static shook was HUGE and for awhile static was a bigger character than black panther WB just dropped the ball and never followed up the amazing show
@rbz111 ай бұрын
@@killah_disciple1 I disagree. Been a comic fan all my life and no one was talking about Black Panther in any major way if at all. The Black Panther cartoon series was in 2010...for 1 season and done. No one cared. Static was in 2000 for 4 seasons and there is no show that runs for 4 seasons and not be very popular. Static, if written and directed properly would have been a huge hit among the black community, which is exactly what pushed the BP film into stardom. It's even more telling that BP has been around forever and no one cared until a well written cultural big screen movie wedged into the already popular Marvel movies gave him notoriety. Static teaming up with Justice League and then having his own movie woven into the storyline would have been major for that character.

Current shows have lessons, the good ones just trust their audience enough not overtly smack you in the face with it like the shows of the 80s and 90s. Writers are better and trust audience to understand subtext

The thing was though every DC comic fan I knew and spoke to loves Static and bought his book(it's always amongst the best sellers) none of us had much Static merch and it turns out that's where the money is.
