Selections are on point!! I didn't know Eric Goldberg had one too! Those Loomis ones are the shit though. Especially figure drawing for all it's worth and fun with a pencil.

To a novice, the best are The Animator's Survival Kit and Breaton Blair's Animation are the best.

If you like understanding comics Scott does have a sequel book more on the making side of comics. This is the first time I've seen the app for survival kit. Is that apple/iOS only?

yeh it's ipad only at the moment. They recently gave the app it's first update in years, so hopefully there is interest in other ports

Great video, i agree for the most part but I'd put Vilppu manual in S class with the videos, force snd the website was how I learned gesture 2 decades ago. Wish I had been introduced to them in highschool but I really didn't have the knowledge to use them yet. I studied Industrial Design in Canada but learned the constructive approach from school snd gnomon videos. Though I know the approach I bought the books and they are awesome, there is a companion website with video tutorials. I believe its the best resource for this approach, though I've come to appreciate Will Westons approach as he uses drawing a little differently with a focus on composition and illustration. I didn't realize the noble approach was that good I will definitely check it out. Figure drawing and invention is great and so was bridgeman and Loomis after Vilppu in my opinion. Almost forgot Marcos Mateao Mastre excellent books on composition for visual story telling, literally nothing else like it its S tier.

Question, I've just been dabbling in animation love drawing naturally but have you used moho. I noticed you did work for Cartoon Saloon. How do they blend puppets with hand drawn. It would be great to see a video on your thoughts of how and when rigged can be combined with hand drawn without the loss of expression and vitality.

yeah I would like to make a video showing how I personally combine toon boom rigs with hand drawn parts, and mash up those techniques in different ways. I haven't personally used moho, but at Cartoon Saloon, it's used for a lot of different things like crowds, background characters, props, or if part of the background moves. But it's not usually combined on the same character, if that makes sense.

Animator's survival kit is a horrible book from the educational standpoint. i don't know why people praise it so much - either because of the peer pressure or because the book is just unnecessarily thick, so they think it consequently tells a lot; but it's not. "Timing for animation" tells the same things and maybe even more, but it does so 3 times faster (around just 90 pages) and with more depth to the explanations.
