Considering Leviathan style of dressing and her cigarette, she is probably in control of the fashion industry a-la Cruella De Vil, with high quality clothing and jewelry (considering we are talking about a deep-sea enviroment), something that only the rich and the royalty can actually afford for themselves. Not only it would match perfetly with the Envee app and a potential similarity to Velvette, but also explain why the Possessor/Infestor demons look down to others demons and their Ring is probably secluded to lower classes.

I found out that Leviathan has two types of envy due to their two heads: Benign envy and Malicious envy. Benign envy is a mild form of envy that's admiring in nature. It's characterized by a desire to achieve similar success to someone else, and the emotion is resolved by acquiring the desired object. Benign envy can inspire positive behavior, such as motivating people to improve themselves, which would represent Leviathan's lighter side. Malicious envy is characterized by feelings of resentment and a desire to undermine others. Malicious envy involves the judgment that the other person doesn't deserve what they have, so the envious person wants to have it for themselves and also wants the other person to lose it, which would represent the darker side of Leviathan.

The lighter head not only looks longingly at the other sins, smiles most of the time, and is rather cute (by demon standards). The darker head looks bitter, is clearly disgusted by being around the other sins, and is more monstrous in appearance, closer to the sea serpent from the myth.

6:08 so in this moment we can see the " normal face " of leviathan getting angry, i thought she was disgusted by mammon and wanted to get far from him. But now hearing the 2nd description of envy i noticed that she isnt mad at mammon but mad at her other face. She wanted to go with mammon game just so she could steal from him, but the other face the more thruthfull side of envy wanted to get as far away from him because she doesnt like him.

I have a theory about why half of Leviathan apparently has some attraction to Mammon. I think it might be because he's so bad. He's so much of a fuckup that there's nothing for her to envy about him. All of her other relationships might be tainted by envy, with her resenting that other people are superior to her in one way or another, stronger, smarter, more powerful, more beautiful, more graceful... but Mammon has none of that. He's probably the one person she can feel unconditionally superior to, and so Mammon makes her feel good about *herself*. And that endears her to him. The one thing Mammon might have over her would be money, but for all that he's obsessed with making more money I'm not sure he's actually that rich? He strikes me as the kind of person who actually loses a lot of money on failed schemes, on buying random junk, and on petty tantrums. Like how he apparently sold all the remaining robofizz at a discount because he wanted to get rid of them, when he probably could have made a lot of money by hiking up the price and telling people there were limited stocks available.

Greed and Envy can be considered the most evil sins. Sloth, Gluttony and Lust: In small doses are harmless. In large doses only harm yourself. Pride and Wrath: Necessary emotions, but too much of them can harm others. Greed and Envy: Harms everyone at any ammount.

@@PauloSM-f6p I think Greed and Envy can be positive depending on how you deal with it. A little bit of Envy can be about pushing yourself to become better, because you want to reach someone else's level. And if you are smart about being greedy, if you're capable of making long term investments rather than go for the short term gains, you can use it for good I feel. Dumb greed will cut corner and pinch pennies, it's the boss underpaying and overworking employees, forcing sick people to work and getting their coworkers sick in the process, and ignoring safety concerns until disaster strikes. Smart greed will make sure to put money where it needs to go to generate more money, and avoid losses: paying employees more and making sure they aren't overworked, because happy and healthy people are more productive, and doing regular maintenance and being careful about safety because accidents and breakdowns cause losses of profits.

Personally I think Levitown is basically one of a couple tourist trap towns in the envy ring, that the various more land based demons can easily go to. Speaking from experience, tourist towns, especially lake towns, always look nice and people can confess to being a little jealous that the locals get to enjoy the stuff year round. However we don't actually enjoy it the same way or time as the tourists. One part we are busy making the money we need for the year in the 3 month tourist season lasts and when it is over we only get a month or so before many of the fun places close and the water is too cold to enjoy. So we appear to be the envy of the tourists, for living in such a beautiful area and fun area, but also we kinda envy the tourists for being able to enjoy the area at the best time of year to enjoy while we slave away making sure it is the fun time everyone wants. Then when it is over we only have a short time before we can't enjoy the area for anything more than looks. Slight exaggeration but ya, tourist trap towns might be fun while you visit, but stay long enough and you quickly find there is less to do than you think.

What's interesting to me is that it seems that the serpentine- like head is in control of the body of Leviathan, indicated by the angry look the fish-like head gives the serpent-like one after their body moves away from the flirting of Mammon and the sort of asking look she gives to the serpent head after Mammon asks Levi out on a date. This might be envy, the smaller head is envious of the control that the larger head has while the larger head might be envious of the attention the prettier head gets from Mammon(which is why they moved away from him). It could also be that, sort of like the twins, they are actually two different entities entirely, but morphed together.

To covet is to desire something that belongs to someone else. If you are jealous, you are worried that someone will take something you already have. Envy is the anger felt when someone has something that you do not.

I remember watching a few documentaries noting the origins of the sins. Envy wasn't even part of the original 8 "mortal sins", and was just added later to parallel the heavenly virtues. If I remember correctly; four of the sins (wrath, greed, gluttony, and lust) are relatively unchanged, sloth was originally divided into "depression" and "laziness", and pride and vanity seems to butt heads with each other because how similar they are to each other.

Knowing how all the Deadly sins act like stereotypical real life people from various walks of life, I'm pretty sure the light head is just the aloof, loud glam rocker type who flirts with everyone and gets excited easily while the serious head is the depressed one that has been betrayed so often she is really cynical and doesn't want to take chances with her heart again. ergo very realist and cold. Not really "mean" but takes a LOT to earn her trust. hence the light head keeps looking at the dark one as if asking permission to go with something and the dark head moved away from Mammon as if saying "NO...remember last time? The answer's no...."

Probably the case of overly eager vs destructively cynical. The light head is willing to date anyone just to have someone to love regardless of how toxic the relationship might be and the dark head rejects everyone because she doesn't believe they actually love them. She looks so depressed the whole time and it'd really fit the nature of the show. Note how the light head has to ask the dark head permission to get with Mammon and the dark head's response is to grab her chair and move as far from him as possible. Kind of implies "Every time you date someone, I foot the bill....so no!" and then light head pouting like "awww you're no fun....." They've definitely done this before.

Well from what I can surmise, the sins being based on circus acts would be as follows. --Lucifer The Ringleader - He runs the show. --Satan The Strongman - He lifts, is strong, and many circuses in media show them as the second in command. --Beelzebub The Animal Tamer - She has many animal based citizens in her ring, jumps through hops in her song. --Mammon The Clown - Self explanatory. --Asmodeus The Flame Eater/Dancer/Magician - Flaming head, dances at the strip club, fancy outfit. --Leviathan The Freak Show - Having two heads would be pretty abnormal even by hell standards. --Belphagor The Fortune Teller - Her many eyes and dreamlike appearance fit the idea of foresight.

Hard to say, Viv's version of these stories kind of imply there's a third perspective never mentioned in the bible. As the bible is often written with a "human centric" perspective, it's automatically assumed that monsters and beasts are "evil that need to be slain", but Viv's version kind of turns that on it's head, implying that it wasn't God who actually punished the deadly sins, but man convincing God to blame them (hence Adam being treated as some kind of celebrity under the lie that the Sinners would rise up to attack the Angels and he was preventing that, when he really just wanted to satisfy his blood lust. Sera genuinely wanted to believe he was protecting heaven even if she knew he was malicious but none of the other angels had any idea. Plus they were very welcoming to Charlie). Viv admitted she doesn't want to involve God himself in her stories, but the implication is just like earth, it's almost like this is Lucifer's version of the story and the deadly sins seem to not be "punished" for their sins, but rather making up for it. Which makes a lot more sense and feels more accurate than the ultra cynical "eternal suffering" most ancient texts say. So it's possible she didn't actually get "slain" by God as interpreted by a human who wrote the text, but rather just.... had a disagreement that caused her to make her own world that matched her vision.

How long did it take everyone to realize shes the fusion of all the other sins? Purple head looks like Satan. White head looks more like lucifer. Hard colors on one side like mammon. And soft colors on the other like Belphagore. She also has some purple mixed in like Bel and Ozzie. And her clothes are something that either Ozzie or Beel would wear. Lives up to her reputation as the Queen of Envy. The only thing unique about her is the fact thats shes a fish and she has two heads. Oh thats another thing! She has more than one head just like Ozzie!

One of the interpretations of Leviathan is that she is part of a triad of Primeval Chaos-Monsters that are essentially God's Divine Pets as well as the Rulers of Beasts. From Abrahamic faiths we have Leviathan ruling over Sea Beasts and Behemoth ruling over Land Beasts, with Ziz from Jewish lore being the rulers of Sky Beasts. (I wonder who was Leviathan's mate) I think that several religious texts also states that they fight with each other during the Apocalypse and are slain by God, after which their flesh is eaten by the people of Jerusalem. Personally I find the biblical lore, of them being god's pets, a bit more interesting than just making them demons like in demonology or eldritch abominations. Then again any being that lives in Hell in Viv's universe is supposed to be a "demon", so I just at least hope they do not give all the Sins the same origin.

rather than it being an evolved trait, it's possible posessers are given their powers, such as asmodean crystals or through a similar device that was used to take power from stolas. in the 2 minutes notice song, fizz was able to pull a massive boquet and then toss it aside easily, burying multiple other imps. in the juggling iz cool song earlier it mentioned that the sisters are "full of sin and ready to win". it could explain why demons drag souls to hell, the ars goetia would loose their power if humans stopped sinning or having faith of the nature of sin. seeing as paimon could change shape, it's possible that the von eldritch family simply capitalize on the lovecraftian horror and changed form to suit

The inspiration for Leviathan was from the Canaanite Lotan when transliterated to Litan was a sea serpent demon who was defeated by the god Hadad Baal similar to God defeating Leviathan ( just wanted to throw it in there)

I imagine Levitown is probably something like a shore town, where there are buildings on the surface where people from other rings like Verosika can stay safely and buildings underwater where the Envy ring natives live. Part of me wants it to be a Lovecraftian fishing town because obviously. We need whatever Hell’s version of a creepy lighthouse is.

I would love to know more about Leviathan and see if she's going to be a villain too and what she sounds like, also I understand why a lot of people don't like her design, but I think she looks cool and she reminds me of a siren. I bet she's inspired by a Medusa and a Siren just like Cala Maria from Cuphead.😮😈🧜🏻‍♀️🐍

From what I've seen, a lot of the haters are honestly just 13-16 year olds or 20 year old weebs who are jealous Viv got a show and mostly trying to act like they should've written it themselves or trash talk it to make Viv and the fans upset. Literally every episode and every discussion has them flooding twitter or the comments attacking anyone who doesn't agree to their "fanfiction" interpretation that usaully involves slaughtering Loona for being a goth teen, forcing Blitz and Stolas to be the most intimate couples around, Killing Stella and Cash for being parents, changing Bee's design to some generic bee demon because she "doesn't look like a glutton", and acting like they're the only ones who's opinions are right. Shows like this attract fans like that all the time though...and they're extremely immature and annoying.... and violent too. It's really grotesque the horrible things these people said about Loona.... just cause she's a goth furry. ESPECIALLY in response to Western Energy.... I pray these people don't go anywhere NEAR a pet dog IRL......cause they would kill the poor thing and act like it deserved it...

I was most excited for leviathan and was dissapointed with the reveal buttttt I love all the symbolism in her design. Cool concept and I like the outcome I just had my hopes up for her to be of a more eldritch horror theme over what we got but it's whatever and I'm sure she'll grown on me once we learn more.

the Envyrings design for me would be like Otoh Gunga in star wars. The ring is just a black endless ocean but it has cities within airbubbles. Those bubbles would be purple colored, resembling the colorpanel from the board.

I imagine that Leviathan has two types of envy because of his two heads: beneficial envy and malicious envy. Beneficial envy is a mild form of envy that is admired in nature. It is characterized by the willingness to achieve success similar to that of another person, and the emotion is resolved by acquiring the desired object. Beneficial envy can inspire an optimistic attitude, such as motivating people to improve themselves, which would represent the more compassionate side of Leviathan. Malicious envy is characterized by feelings of resentment and a fondness to undermine others. Malicious envy affects the decision that the other person does not deserve what he or she has, so the envious person wants to have it for themselves and also wants the other person to lose it, which would represent the more antagonistic side of Leviathan.

If Levitowne was on Verosika's tour, then I think it's implied certain areas of the Envy ring are either inhabitable for demons of other rings, or that Leviathan has made it a visitor zone, which honestly would fit the theme of the ring quite well. Intersting detail, the NV logo's face is the reverse of how Leviathan is portrayed in the show, right head is the scowling seaserpent while the left is the one that smiles on occasion, however this might be mirrored to represent Leviathan's perspective on things, rather than the phone's owner.

another detail I want to bring up is that I personally think her two heads *may* be a reference to a monsterhigh doll that came from their underwater series, Great Scarrier Reef (their names are Peri and Pearl). Its likely a coincidence! but some of the character designs in the hella-verse in general give me vibes of the types of designs you would see from those type of shows? (Like mattel and hasbro shows marketed to sell toys to girls. ex: bee's hair reminding me of alicorns from mlp gen4.) Again, likely a coincidence but I thought it would be fun to point out!

I'm calling it now: Leviathan is going to murder Mammon. He's going to run out of bridges to burn and people to screw over, he's already pissed off Lucifer and Asmodeus, Beelzebub is clearly going to align with Asmodeus if she hasn't already, and Mammon was likely trying to schmooze with Leviathan trying to get his own counter-alliance formed before they could make any move against him. But as the sin of envy, it is practically Leviathan's obligation to begrudge Mammon's power and fortune and want him to lose it all. They may think they deserve to control two rings -- one for each head, or they may just think it would be funny to watch Mammon fall and the Greed Ring burn. But either way, they're only going to humor him for however long it takes to end him. EDIT: 5:40: Close. Half of envy is wanting what another has for yourself. The other half is not wanting the other to have it at all. If somebody has a nice car, and you go out and buy the exact same model for yourself, that's just simple jealousy. It's not healthy, but it's not exactly a sin. If somebody has a nice car, and you steal it, that's envy. And if somebody has a nice car, and you set it on fire, that's the other side of envy.

We don't exactly know that. Leviathan was in her normal form, I imagine she grows to a gigantic serpent when in full demon form

I have a personal sneaking suspicion that possessors and infestors are two distinct species since we only ever see the one infestor actually do ghost-type things and take over and show A LOT MORE POWER THAN NORMAL FOR A HELLBORN. This also comes from when looking at all the possessors vs him he actually lacks a lot of very key traits they all have (namely horns) Anyways I'm leaning more into this theory since we see Levy have two heads, which could mean each head made one species, leading to the two species seen in the end.

Funny you bring up Abzu & Tiamat cause when seeing Leviathan in Helluva Boss her design seems to strongly be inspired by a character from Dislyte, one side being of a woman who wants to protect people from the Miracle while the other will cause any sort of harm to others that tries to hurt the woman, that character just so happens to be Abzu & Tiamat’s Esper Farrah

Me and my friends have a theory that the more attractive half of Leviathan is the part of envy that's more violent and the more monstrous looking side is actually the nicer version of envy

I'm looking forwards to see what they do with Leviathan in the future. I'd imagine that she'll play more of a neutral role amongst the cast (considering her whole two heads thing she has going on) which would contrast nicely with Asmo's and Bell's benevolent nature and Mammon's and Satan's antagonistic attitudes.

The final design for levythan is good..but...I really wished that They atleast add some reminiscent of a huge sea creature such like the blue whale or a megalodon in the design. To really show that she rule over hell's Waters and sea creature.

Here's a thought: The humanoid head (lets call her Levi) and Eel-like head (let's call her Athan) are representing two different yet similar concepts. Levi is representing the typical envy while Athan represents jealousy. Levi was interested in Mammon because she envied the people in relationships while Athan got jealous that Levi was showing interest in someone else.

At 1:39 in the video if that is the envy ring I think it’s dark out the window because envy could be an ocean and if it is than it’s probably like real life where the deeper you are in the ocean the less light there is so envy is probably the same.

If IMP is going to visit the Envy Ring, they will need special diving gear or access to a sub. In addition when visiting there we might see characters whom we have already met like Glitz, Glam, Rolando and that mom who got into a fight with Blitz at the hospital.
