No, when he had that 4 ace hand, he could have played a fake, and if he didn't get called out next turn, he could play all his aces and either they would call him out when he said the truth making them shoot themselves or he would pass and be safe for the round since he wouldn't have a hand he wouldn't have to play the rest of the round keeping him safe

One at a time is a better strat. You're always going to be good because you're never forced to call liar and your plays are safe from being called. The rest are going to argue amongst themselves while you get a free pass. No way a game is going to go more than 4 rounds without a call. Odds are well in your favour to slow play it.

From what I understand from a video talking about the pirates of the Caribbean liar's dice scene, on each turn, you can either raise the amount of dice and change the face to any you want, or increase the face value, which can only be lowered again by increasing the count. (So if the bid is 4 4s, you can either go 4 5s, 4 6s, or 5 of anything.)
