We’ve had two. Great cars . Cheap to maintain and they hold their value well. One tip is if the rear shocks need replacing get gas filled ones . They make a real difference to the handling and ride. Way beyond what you might imagine . We’ve had the door handle go and the clutch . But that’s on the one we have at the moment and that’s over five years. The original car didn’t suffer from these faults. ! Your review was excellent , as usual

There's a seller in my town he used to sell other cars passing his yard on the bus he has it full of Fiat 500's. A girl I know at college wants one light blue Cream interior. Another Girl who I knew had a Fiat 500 Twinair Red with Cream interior thing was small I often sat in the back and at 5'10 my head touched the roof but I had legroom. Tbf it felt quiet quick pulling of the lights. I wouldn't mind driving one I'd imagine like an Original Mini it would be fun to drive

I believe that engine owes its genes back to the 60's possibly in the FIAT 850 where an OHV version of the 100 engine lived - the block was I think reworked to an OHC head

Yes gearboxes do go on them, got a punto with a noisy box, however most of the used boxes are ripped out of puntos for fiat 500's as they are worth more

I'd take a Cat D but not a Cat C. I bought a 98 Prelude VTI that was a Cat C, the front end had been welded on by Stevie Wonder. Lost loads of money (and hair) stressing over it. Never again Nice looking wee car this. My first car, an E reg Panda, had a 1000cc Fire engine! Wasn't very quick...I put "Fire" down to the dodgy Italian electrics!

I have been buying cars since 1983 the last 10 years I mostly buy cat repaired, most are done to a high standard and are good value, over recent years cars get wrote off for minimal damage, my own car is a £25k cat s mercedes

I've fixed a few of these after light crashes - they're sturdy & easy to work on. They get a name as being "unreliable" as most places that work on them are clueless tbh - I see them coming here with overheating issues where other places have worked on the cooling system & didn't bleed it afterwards, where the parts cannon has been fired at the vehicle because they didn't bother/know what the real fault was, etc etc. I'd have one over say a Mini, in a heartbeat if this was the sort of car I wanted.

I think it's Cha Cha blue? The very earliest ones were 57 (very late 2007 models) but the earliest surviving ones left are 2008 , this blue plus mocha brown and Yu Yu green were for 2007-2009 model years only for initial release of the new 500. I've had 5 fiat 500s and abarths I'm quite nerdy.... Awesome vid btw and great little car, it'll be an easy sell I'm sure even as a cat N!

Love the 500 m8 we have had two in our family, l bought my daughter her first which was a cat s 08 plate great car no issues then again a 19 plate cat S also which was still under warranty at the time and we got a basically brand new car for cheap money to so l would say to people cat N and S cars are not to be sniffed at but do ya checks because they are a lottery tbh

@@carukchannel Yes, I was only thinking about the 500. Apart from the occasional Panda I don't see many Fiats anyway - at least not in Manchester. I couldn't see what all the fuss about the 500 was other than they look cute . At least I now know there is a bit more to them than I realised. I did have an Uno for a week 30 years ago - I'm still receiving counselling from the experience. I'm told I may never recover.

Electric windows can fail on a cheap plastic clip, fixed with a few zip ties and an hour of work....great car, old school to fix and cheap to run and own. Loved the vid ¬!

i knew someone who had a fiat 500. and you are right within 4 weeks the door handle fell off and within 6 months the speedometer instruments failed that cost over £300 to fix.£2250 sounds about right, with two keys.

i would buy a cat N but not a cat S, my tip is if buying from a dealer hpi check it yourself as a auction i go to get a few cat N cars in and you hear dealers asking the auctioneer if it says cat N on the V5, i know one dealer bought a Cat N car and on the website says hpi clear!!!

Never understand Cat N cars being marked down in price, most cars will have had a repair in its life, in this case it was just an uneconomical repair for the insurance using new parts, but not if used parts were used but people just don't see it that way

Fiat hadn't ironed out the electrical faults, at least by the 2015 models. The most common issue seems to be various warning lights flashing when the right hand traffic indicator is operated, also the indicators on my car cancelled at the least turn of the steering wheel - a very dangerous hazard! I didn't think it was very nice to drive at all and I wouldn't have another one at any price! [Yet I found the Panda which I previously had was a whole lot better!!].

I would only buy a Cat N car if the engine had been replaced as imagine the G forces involved in a car accident even at 30mph its not good , Also when buying a car you have to be very careful of unrecorded cat cars as have seen a few on Autoshite i mean Autotrader lol if you check the MOT history you can spot it usually they say things like bumper damaged or sill accident damage thats a red flag, got to be so careful as sadly the UK is full of very nasty people who would sell your son or daughter a dangerous car and never be heard from again.

I think a 30mph accident in one of these would have fairly major structural damage and wouldn’t be classified as a Cat N. Probably a door or bumper / wing got dented .

Bought a 65 reg Ka 1.2 Zetec (Fiat 500 in disguise) in July 21, Cat C, it had driven down the side of something damaging the drivers rear quarter, door & a slight dent in the front wing. I have no idea why it had been marked as Cat S & could only think because it was asessed that the rear quarter would need replacing which is part of the "B" pillar too (it didn't). I replaced the door with a colour matched one, fitted a brand new door mirror, then had the rear quarter repaired along with the wing which "popped" out, then the whole side was repainted. Total cost inclusive of fees & the car transporter I hired to pick it up myself etc, was just £3010!! - I actually paid more than I needed to (£35 just to paint the damn mirror cap amongst other things lol). The kicker here is - it had LESS than 3000 miles on the clock with 6 Ford service stamps, the FSH being a bonus I didn't know about when I bid on it. It's my daily now as I couldn't get anything that value for anywhere near that price. Plus, I know where, and how well it was repaired/resprayed. So, in comparison, I think you paid too much haha ;p (Only kidding)

Just a little update on the non interference cam belt statement, they were on the 60bhp 1.2 version but mine is the 68bhp 1.2 in my 2011 Panda and whatever they did to get the power and Euro 5 status made them an interference engine, still a bloody good engine though. Mine sits quietly on the motorway, averages 45mpg and does low to mid 50's on a run and I don't drive with economy in mind just returns great mpg. I'm not too bothered by Cat N but I wouldn't buy a Cat S unless I knew who had fixed it. When you started on about how you went through the noise on the back passenger side I started laughing because I went through the very same last year on the Panda and I started saying "Lee, its the axle bushes mate" but it took a few trips to the garage to get to the root of it for me lol

you bought the car for 1334 spent money buying parts pushing your price up to 1499 excluding the extra 100 pounds for the possible extra key but you didn;t mention what time it took to repair and the labour charge in time to fix it

I sold it for 2495 in August last year, we spent around 4 hours in labour which was free as we did it ourselves. We did not need a 2nd key in the end.

Cat N is a subject full of whys and what ifs .My car would have been Cat N if my insurers had taken it away from my home due to the Theft of its Catalytic converter ( £3,900 to replace with OEM) I found parts CE approved that a Garage fitted for me at £ 900 including the fitting Making it not a Cat N Insurers then refused my business at next renewal .Is it Cat N ? You are right with the Approx 25% reduction though But then your Fiat has a new wheel rim new suspension units and also the bearing It is a sorted Car that will give someone a few years of cheaper Motoring As you are a dealer you obviously warranty the car for the required length under the consumer rights laws Unlike a private seller who would not even let a buyer know about the Cat N

There is no minimum term for warranty, legally a car dealer does not have to provide any warranty by law, although we do offer one. CRA does give rights to the buyer and also the seller which is often forgotten which puts a dealer liable for up to 6 months, however its more complicated than that and something I know a lot about and intend to make a video on in the future as its a interesting subject, thanks for watching BN and you make a good point about Cat N vehicles 👍👍

Man I remember the original fiat 500 from the 70s, they were little rockets ! but like all italian cars then the electrics were terrible, but still a fun car, you will sell that easily for 2300 Darren no problem :),I have a Ford FiestaTitainium diesel 11 plate from new with only 50k on the clock, best car I have had. never let me down, I can``t go EV it will feel like driving a milk float ! :)
