Rain and wet snow freeze up to make an icy ski hill. Good time to test alpine boards for their ice carving prowess. My buddy Jeff was a good sport and captured some video of me putting a couple new Coilers through their paces. Hero snow this was not, nor chalky hardpack; this was icy. Some of the uphill skinners were using crampons!

It's interesting to see what constitutes "Ice" out west.

Here in Nova Scotia Canada those conditions are perfect, lol. Ice for us is literally solid ice like a frozen pond and it's scary as heck if you don't get on the edge properly when you go over it.

Naw in BC, Canada this ain't ice, either. Ice is ICE! You can hear the riders scraping on it 2 chairlifts away.

As Other's have noted, it's kinda 'fluffy' sounding, as opposed to the usual 'SCHRAAALP' we'd hear in the Northeast!! "PSR"

Bums me out I have such a bad ankle that I cant ride hard boots! I have a HOT alpine board just chilling at my house that I cant ride so I have to live vicariously though you guys who get to carve like this! I do a good job on my all mountain board, but cant lay out that far! You're a rare breed on the mountain!

I was able to ride hard boots with a sprained ankle with no pain. My Deeluxe Indys are like walking casts. Total support once the swelling went down. Your ankle must be a mess.

@darko714 so, right above my ankle was broken. I don't mean just a break, broke away from my leg. The only thing keeping my foot attached was some skin and Achilles tendon. If you want, I will make a video showing what my ankle looks like. It's gnarly. I went through 2 external fixators to get my leg to heal.

Um, sorry... 'Firm', yes. Blue & Manmade, NO!! Just Saying, when we 'get-to' Spraying in VT, It's 'Soft-groomers'. That's "why" I Taught "all-the-general-up-to-BX' Lessons on Tankers/WW's of various sizes, and left the Ice Riding to my Souls or Madd-Carbon-top boards. You guys out West almost (though, surprised at Heavenly Valley with this, Once!) 'Blue Chalk'. You CANNOT WALK ON IT, unless you've got crampons for your hardshells. Ever been 'blown back UPHILL on a steeper 'Blue' trail? I have, at Stratton. Ice? No, Firm, yup, I'll give ya that, but it looks pretty 'Normal' to me. "PSR"
