I've been searching for a decent adze as well as a froe for a few years. They are pretty hard to come by. Most are just spot welded and I dont think they would be very reliable. I think my next purchase will be a 2 handed gouge. I also keep my gimlets with my carving tools. Great set, Tom another great sharpener is made by flexcut. It is great for groove tools and such. I have the old timer, splinter carvin knife. Its great for messing around. Since it's made to carry in your pocket. My saving grace if we go on lockdown, is the fact I camp, bushcraft, hunt, fish, and forage on my homestead and all the forest that borders our land. Around 11k acres is a big enough playground to keep most people content. ATB and TC, Cris.

Nice collection of carving tools you have .I also purchased some carving tools from Beaver and Mora but I am still a beginner therefore I am not so good in it but every next spoon looks a bit better . More people especially the younger generation should at least try a bit of the old craft whether leather craft wood work or fire forging I love always to try something old ,it is always satisfying to create something with own hands and so I can imagine a little how our ancestors have felt centuries ago working with this natural materials .

You did it to me again, Tom! I now have a large order in to Beaver Craft for carving tools. At least this will keep me busy while being cooped-up at home. Have a block of curly maple to maybe make two kuskas out of. All the best to you and yours and stay safe Roger
@AJ-sr8pq4 жыл бұрын
I hope you will have better luck than I with beaver craft. The gauge I bought snapped off at the handle after about 5 minutes of (not hard) use. I contacted them about 2 months ago and still no reply. Now my carving knife blade is loose in the handle. I won't bother trying to contact them. I've seen other youtube bushcraft channels recommending this company and thought I would be ok with them but obviously something is funny. Even if the tools didn't fail the quality is poor. I have a spoon knife from north bay forge and compared to the beaver craft it is night and day. I would not recommend beaver craft.
