I have never carved anything and now that I am old that as I watch you you bring peace into my life watching you. At this stage in my Life I may have two years left here on this earth before I go home. I am getting some little things together to start. You inspired me to do this and to enjoy life through carving. Thank you for sharing with me and my the father bless you and keep you.

Design and details, I’ve got a long road ahead of me to carve as well as you. It’s not about being competitive more about growing. I have been a wood carver for years and it is an evolution of chips and dust. Currently my focus is on eyes, noses, and mouths finding a more realistic look that I can combine into my tribal/folk/abstracted style. Your window into the carving process has been a real help in showing HOW the details emerge into a face also that the scale of a piece can be small but rich in detail, I tend to work with larger chunks of wood resulting in bigger carvings that take up more room in our house. I think my wife might appreciate me down sizing my work ha ha! I will look for more of your helpful videos, thanks.

That was beautiful.... Is that perforated board part of a "Dust collection system" when you use Power carving for your peices?... Will you show us how this works?... Better still (when you find the time!) could you make a Video of the "Dust collection system you use"... Thanks again for your excellent videos on Wood carving. They are greatly appreciated.

Fabulous carving. Your details and likeness of all people and objects is amazing. I assume the long slender bit is a slot mandrel with self adhesive sandpaper on it. Is this correct? If it is sandpaper, what grit were you using?I don’t see pink sandpaper around. I would like to know what burr you use to cut the eagle feathers and braves hair with. I see you always choke up on the hand piece pretty close to the burr. Does this give you better control? Do you run your line shaft tool in reverse? I have a Foredom SR and it seems to throw the wood away from me while running in reverse. I am trying very hard to improve my carving skills. You seem to have a lot of experience and talent. I’m trying to learn from you. I always enjoy your videos. Thank you very much for sharing your talents with us my friend.

Laurie McConnell Hey the sandpaper 220 grit. The feathers and hair made with the same bit before.I think I sent you a ling before. You have to hold the tool strong and grab close so you controlled the movement and the bit not ending into your hand. Specially those Kutzall extreme bits. Let me know how can I help.
