“When people cry for help, they don’t use English. They, they awkwardly lash out in misdirected directions, that ultimately are not very fruitful and end up hurting themselves and hurting others”. So much wisdom in this small section of the video. A little understanding goes a long ways, and a little more, and better communication could solve a lot of society’s woes.

I have a great deal of empathy for you. I have been divorced and lost my home, business, business property, and worst of all, my children. I have not had any contact with them for 27 years. It really hurts, but I still know that God is in control and pray for them everyday as I have since knowing they were conceived. Spend every minute you can with yours and hug them as often as you can. >

Great video, thank you for sharing. I was very surprised when I watched the first video about leaving the homestead of how upset I was. It sounds crazy, but since finding you guys on KZbin I have grown very attached to your story. I admire you guys so much for your intelligence and realness. Also, I wasn't sure if the homestead exit was permanent or temporary. I'm so happy to see you connecting with your family and introducing them to homesteading. I know great times are ahead for you. Thanks for sharing your story. I just landed here because your video about the 8N, but I've enjoyed watching your other videos. Good story telling is a craft, and the hours you spend planning, shooting and especially editing, set you apart from others. Many of us can relate to at least part of your shared experience, thanks for bringing us along. When I was much younger, I helped a friend with a piece of land he bought, a few hours from where we both lived, in Northern California. We were urban rednecks, with our 4x4s and chainsaws, ready to rekindle that pioneer spirit! 4 wooded acres in the mountains, very similar to your place. One day I spotted a few year old Polaris ATV at a local dealer. I bought it and surprised my partner on the next trip. We'd both ridden motorcycles, but the ATV was new. Within a few hours we figured out what a game changer the ATV was. Soon we both had them and it was a whole new world, how much more you could accomplish. Later we did the tractor too, a 4x4 Kubota, which had it's plusses and minuses. Today I'd have a RWD tractor like yours and an excavator! I'll keep watching your journey, know that there are many who appreciate that you share it with us.

Like you things of the past seem always present! Life choices..... we must each work them out in our own way. Emotional trauma no matter the cause or circumstances is hard to share. What hurts me may not have the same effect on others or those involved. Those who look at me have no idea the path I’m really walking, it’s not physical, it’s spiritual... no footprints. Many questions left to be answered, or sadly some never to be answered. We just walk, we just live, we sometimes heal, we sometimes wonderfully endure. I can tell you’ll find what your searching for.....and this is definitely aptly named...”Carving a Path”!

Wow! Your channel keeps bringing it- great stories, awesome photography, and a very interesting perspective on life that I find refreshingly honest in today's world. You did several brave things by going on that trip, not the least of which was sharing a little of your back story. Your explanation of the emotional side of your journey helped me put a finger on one of the tantalizing things about your videos that I just have not been able to otherwise explain. I originally came for the smithing and woodworking, but I found myself staying for the gentle but profound musings on life that always left a little untold yet always resonated within me as truth. I better understand the gentle craftsman and philosopher I watch is the result of life's forge; a man who has been torched, pounded, folded, shaped, and quenched into someone who often segues with, "But that is complicated and perhaps for another day." Deepest respects and heart-felt appreciation from South Carolina.

You are not alone as I live remotely and my 40 year old daughters live on the other side of North America... I'd love to have this family thing but the distance and their independence makes being together difficult. I love kicking around the property and with my wife and dogs it is nice to have a visitor once in a while but great that they leave. We are only on this planet a short time and might as well do whatever it takes to make yourself healthy and happy... then others can be a part of it if they like... good luck with it all and don't over think it...

Family life can be very tough. I went though divorce and we had 3 kids together. I found a great lady and started over. She’s an amazing lady and each of us has children mostly grown. I always tried to do the right thing no matter how bad it hurt me. You and your wife or partner look like a great couple, with same goals. You can see her love, especially with your daughter. And your right you have to be able to be there some to build your relationships with them. I always tried to do what was best for my kids. I never talked trash about x. I always believed that one day my kids would look back and see what happened. I tell my current wife it’s really hard because kids will believe and see everything from the parent they live with. You don’t know me and I don’t know you but I can say I’m proud of you and your partner or wife. It takes a real man to open up. My kids are all grown now and it really has made a big difference with our relationship

Well… I began watching your videos to observe you popping wheelies on your 8n several months ago. The other day, my wife and I watched this video and realized what a small world it truly is. She is from the Bay Area in Maryland and moved down here to NWA to live with me and my young son on our 4 acres close to Winslow. This video hit close to home on many levels. We watched more of your content and I soon felt compelled to carve a spatula at 10pm on a weeknight. So, as any sensible person would do, I went directly outside and cut a chunk off a recently felled hophornbeam and got to work. As I carved with a box cutter on my couch, I realized, I was sitting in a pool of sweat! Carving engages the core and provides a decent workout! Of course, I’m sure my technique was wholly incorrect. Anyway, I finished the spatula last night and sealed it with our butcher block conditioner. Thank you for the inspirational content and for sharing something true in a country that is increasingly false. Are there any craft fairs or conventions coming up that we can find you at?

No need to explain. If someone does not understand where you are coming from then they are the ones with the problems. If these people could just experience the peace and tranquility that you have achieved they would be so much happier. I had that at one time in my life but then life caught up with me and I got stuck "Out in the world". I have been trying to get back to where I was 45 years ago ever since. To answer the question is going to take a minute. A long time ago back in our sailing days. We had some friends who had a 21 foot old wooden sailboat. And they were going to sail from the East Coast of the United States to Africa. When they got to Africa they lived there for quite a few years and in that time they made friends with all of The African locals. But also in that time there old wooden sailboat that was already in bad shape had deteriorated a lot more . So when the Africans heard that our friends were thinking about sailing back across The Atlantic to the US they became worried. So The Africans decided what our friends would need the most to help them sail safely back across the ocean would be magic. In Africa a lot of the people wear bands like ours for a lot of different reasons. Some wear them to get pregnant some where them to not get pregnant some where them to be lucky at gambling some wear them to prevent people from breaking into their homes while they are away. Anyways the locals decided what our friends would need the most would be to have the ability to be lucky and also to not sink. So the locals had these bands made for our friends to give them these magic abilities. Our friends set off from the coast of Africa and over 5000 miles and 51 days at Sea later They safely sailed into Saint Augustine Florida on their old rotten wooden boat. At this point we were living in Saint Augustine Florida on our boat. And we were getting ready to go to sea and our friends were getting ready to move off of their boat. So they decided that they did not need the magic bands anymore. So they gave them to us thinking that we could use the same good luck and also benefit from having the ability to not sink. So I am not sure if these bands are actually magic but if you could have seen their old rotten wooden boat with no electronics no auto pilot. It would certainly make you consider the possibility that they just might be magic. Anyways that is the best way I can explain that. I hope it makes some kind of sense to you. Also thank you for your comment and your interaction.
@Btines013 жыл бұрын
@@CarvingAPath That is quite fascinating and definitely a triumph making a passage across the Atlantic like that! I've gotten away from magic these days. Knowledge of Power Manipulation has a corrupting effect on the spirit and soul. I had suspected that it was some form of marriage ties since both you and your wife were wearing them. Then I saw them on your daughters too and then the marriage ties thing went out the window. Thank you for being willing to answer my question and satisfy my curiosity! I really appreciate your humble approach to life and the honesty and simplicity which you evidently live by. May Yahway continue to bless the labor of your hands and give peace to your home!

The sea is nice to visit but there aren't any trees, you can't keep a tractor on the boat and running a forge is problematic to the extreme. I would feel relief getting back to my place after such a trip. I think I understand what you are trying to say and although I feel our politics are probably different don't forget if one group of those "unhappy people" as you called them get their way we won't be cutting firewood and using it for heat or having our own coal forge, running tractors from the 1940's nor living in the hills with plenty of free space. Just to name a few. Glad you guys are back and safe. Looking forward to more of your videos!!!!!
