We had a wood stove the first four years we lived in Newton County. My Mom had to learn how to bake in it. We kept a sassafras root in a pan on the back of the stove. We filled it with spring water and pulled it forward when we wanted tea. This vid brings back some great memories, thank you.

Great to see you back at the homestead again mate I grew up with one of these combustion ovens it was what gave us hot water and provided heat for cooking and baking and we also dried our clothes around it. You guys are doing a great job👍🏻👍🏻

Great to see the enlarged family working together and sharing the cool rustoration with us. Thats a cool stove. Unlike many YT channels, I am confident your way of moving the stove down the hill to the house won't involve any 'hold my beer' techniques. Thanks for the video

My dad’s family has an old stove like that from their homestead in Wyoming, circa early 1900’s. My dad has given it to me and I can’t wait to get it set up in my shop. Great restoration. Thanks for sharing.

My Great Aunt sure could make really good meals on a wood stove. The men were up at 6 and the biggest meal of the day was on the table. foot high pancakes, steaks, salmon, potatoes etc... As the men were close to finishing breakfast she would start making sandwitches out of what was left and at 6:45 am we grab our lunches and head out to get the days work started. Logging, planting, haying... non stop things to do... no time to be bored and defenitely no time for a night life.

we had a wood stove when i grew up in the kitchen and a wood furnace in the basement for winter witch kept our house nice and cozy i learn how to cook on the wood stove and it was hard to get used to use an electric stove afterword but the food did not have the same taste on the electric then the wood stove i prefer the wood stove us to keep our wood stove nice and shiny we used what they call coaunne de lard here the closet thing to it is salt pork but our was not salted it will turn it a nice black shiny and also you can cook directly on the stove certain things like toast , french toast, crepe, pancake and more nice to see every body working together to accomplish the same goal and getting ready for the winter that is coming check your email soon i will have things for you within a week well to the whole troop have a great day and enjoy life every day

Love the video's. I have a question, looking for some suggestions on moving wood stove. I inherited my grandmothers Home Comfort wood stove. It has been in my house for over 25 years. I am moving and need to get it down five steps on front porch. Any suggestions? I have removed as much as I can from stove. Thank you for your time. Enjoyed many of the videos and shared thoughts.

For something that has very many moving parts, woodstoves seem to ware out and or in need if repair the most of anything I know of. That wood cookstove should be great when fixed up but did you cut your wood short enough.............

What is the plan for a coating on the outside of the bare metal of the stove, whatever it is mom will be happy if you coat the stove and burn it in before it is moved in the house, leaving the smoke and stink outside. lol
